Why the fuck would I dream that MJ would be a serviceable intramural basketball player? Better than some, worse than most.

Then, they immediately switch it because they are bad at rhymes to the young person dreaming to be like Mike.

This may be controversial, but I don't support the actions of R Kelly, even though his song "I believe I can fly" is superior to "Be Like Mike" in the Jordan-inspired R&B song genre.

Those of us old enough to remember being bombarded with that spot have it imprinted on our brains. I can still hear the bass voice (bump bump-bump bump) and the background singer (I wanna be I wanna be I wanna be).

Funny thing is, people didn't call him Mike...though my guess is he didn't take offense at it (as Payton did when Murph infamously called him Wally).
