Is it one of the Godfathers or another film?

He was excellent in the Devil's Advocate, especially with his prophetic speech about Eddie Barzoon or "God's Special Little Creature." No one else could pull off being the Devil like he did in that film. It's scary how good he was.

Scarface is another. Totally untouchable in that film.

Heat is also worth mentioning, when he went head-to-head against Deniro.

People have long said Brando is the greatest actor. Maybe he was. But there's a case for Al, too.

Scarface and Godfather, yes. #3 is a toss-up between Donnie Brasco and Carlito's Way. Donnie Brasco probably the better movie, but Carlito's Way is just a movie I've always loved.

  awful nomination. Did he even act in that or just make whooping sounds the whole movie?

Devil's Advocate does not belong anywhere near this list. Unless we are asking what movie he overacted the most in?

If I had to pick, it would be:

1. Scarface
2. Godfather I
3. Devil's Advocate
4. Godfather II
5. Carlito's Way

Carlito’s Way and Glen G. Not the fan of the Godfather movies in the way everyone else is. Sorry.

I loved it too. He's one of those guys who are a must see. Even at his advanced age.

No way. I suggest re-watching it. I wouldn't have thought so either until as few days ago when I watched that speech about "God's Special Creature" on a whim. It's Al's most prophetic speech, that is, it's very telling about the state of the world we're in. Of course, the writing was outstanding.

He over-acted the most in Glengarry G in his anger toward Kevin Spacey's character.

Godfather 1 and 2, especially 2, is the objectively correct answer.

If we're throwing that out I'll take Heat. He's great in Donnie Brasco too.

Heat is one of my all time favorite movies and he is good in that but Carlito's Way is very under rated in my opinion. I saw Scarface on TV the other day and I couldn't turn it off. It's a good movie but not as good as the other two. He was very good in The Godfather and part II but those are 4 and 5 on my list.

Carlito's Way
Heat
Scarface
Godfather and Godfather II

I still cannot for the life of me understand how anyone liked Scarface. Pacino was at his overacting worst, and his accent was wildly over the moon.

favorite pacino non-godfather film is sea of love. the blonde co-star had a rough face, but a great body.

loved the scam at the beginning of the film the cops used to capture fugitives.

Surprised Insomnia isn't on anyone's list.

I stumbled across Heat last night and got sucked into it. I probably haven't seen it in around 20 years. Everything about it holds up except some of the production values (there are some real fake exterior scenes) and Pacino's performance. I found myself laughing out loud more than once at scenes that are supposed to be intense or menacing. If that movie came out today, it would probably generate a couple dozen memes.
