I once interviewed for a job where they made it obvious that they had to interview a third person but they were hiring one of the other two. It was bad enough that for my job talk only two faculty members from the department showed up. They didn't even advertise the student Q and A with the candidate so I didn't even a single student there. It was annoying, but good practice and I had an excellent dinner at a great restaurant in the area and wasted over $1000 of their money for flying me in, feeding me, and a hotel stay.

I bet the station that interviewed her a bunch of times but never hired her because she doesn't fit the sound was WBEZ, where she had an on-air audition of sorts that nothing came of. They seem to prefer hiring black women, which is probably why she couldn't air them out for it. I feel like there are more black women working for WBEZ than listening to it, though.

Have always thought that each interview gives you a chance to improve your interviewing skills and they provide a great insight into how the organization you are interviewing with works. I always advise my staff to apply for positions that may be above them just for the opportunity to learn about themselves.

Most of the time there is an internal candidate or a candidate that the decision maker(s) have already chosen, 90% of interviews are basically professional courtesy.

She is unknowingly making herself less hirable by revealing character and personality flaws on social media that would make her very difficult to work with, pair that with the fact that when the opportunity was awarded, she put out content that was below average for even the current incarnation of what WSCR is calling sports talk radio, and it is very easy to understand why nobody would want to hire her.

Zoom/Teams interviews are a trip. Spoke with someone who even through the webcam I could tell had not washed her hair. First impression proved to be a correct one and we wasted an hour of everyone's time.

Collegiate sport is a strict meritocracy where not even tomorrow, much less winning, is promised to anyone. Everywhere else needs the government to ensure equitable outcomes.
