Bigfan started a thread that went into commercials a bit and there is a lot to be said about the commercials right now. It might as well be here. I'm not thinking about hair loss, hair restoration, eye surgery, strip club, or some gambling ads. There's a whole class of ads that are a lot lower.

There is an ad for a pure pyramid scheme. "Buy and sell on the internet on sites like E-bay!". You don't have to see what you sell or know what it is or even actually have it. Sit back and let your computer make you a fortune.

There's a guy who has a list of people who are dying to buy what you sell. Not that he has any idea of what you're selling.

A guy with a system for selling time-shares. The ad is presented as a lame interview and the "Host" can't believe how great this offer is, and all for free.

The old standard, JDS Financial, "for when the bank and everyone else says no".

EDS (?) "We had a great year, how about you?" Call us and no more bosses or time clocks.

The Adam Zitface gambling infomercials. His game of the year won again last week. Big Bank! Call for next week's game of the year.

Arbitron must be telling the Score something about us that isn't real flattering. They say, "Your listeners are a bunch of scheming, sponging, debt-ridden job-losers. Most important, they're desperate and stupid enough to bite on the dumbest 800 number commercials ever produced.

Think about that next time somebody calls in to agree with North about Ozzie and the Venezuelan flag.

Hey, how come when you watch the Super Bowl, the Final Four, etc, you're bombarded with ads for expensive cars, investment firms that want to manage your portfolios, etc., etc.; then, on sports talk radio, they think we're all a bunch of guys looking for mortgage scams and strip clubs?

I guess in the advertisers' minds, if you just tune in to WATCH those events, you're in a very different demographic from those who feel a need to listen to the radio and/or talk about it, either before or after the fact, for days on end. Then again, maybe those two groups aren't mutually exclusive! Maybe the true target audience for sports advertisers is somewhere in between--guys who have enough money for an expensive car or a "portfolio," but would prefer to "invest" it in some quality time at a gentleman's club. Perhaps a good ad scheme for both radio and TV would be, "Hey, you know that excess money you have sitting there in your 401(k)? Come to Heavenly Bodies . . . "

There isn't a whole lot of respect paid to sportstalk radio or its listeners. Just watch Jim Rome, PTI, or those pompous pricks on the Sports Reporters. They're always saying it's the bane of sports. They blame sportstalk for everything from short tenures of head coaches to lack of player loyalty. These guys love to get on their soapbox and rail on "the Neanderthals spewing their venom on the airwaves". Isn't this what these douchebags do everyday on the air or in print? I guess since they're the self-proclaimed "experts" they're entitled to their opinion. I realize there are moron callers and hosts out there, but even morons have the right to their opinion. And I don't need "Dumbo" Mitch Albom or Mark Twain's gay brother Bob Ryan lumping us all together.

Back to the initial point of the thread. I love Larry the Cable Guy from Lenox Financial. Yeah, he sounds like the kind of guy I want to trust with my financial future.

Yeah, you and I wouldn't call Larry, but the guys who call Adam Zinn and follow his Unlocks of the Year need Larry cause they have no other options.

Face facts!
The majority of the listeners of sports talk radio are the lowest form of human life. They are the ones who think that SCR is the greatest thing in the world. They love Mike North. Their life's ambition is to get on the air as a caller.
Question?
What other station on the dial would take the kind of advertisers that the Score is filled with. They have to advertise someplace and the Score may be the only one willing to accept their checks.

but, if they wanna buy the time , sell it...so in my opinion its not the number of low end products and services, its the lack of anything I would really buy or use that is glaring.

even worse though is when they have North or anyone else sell the spots as if they use the products.

Think Mike uses JDS? or David Spada?

I recently had a conversation with one of his old softball cleats, and I can confirm that he uses Marconi. Terry's peeps can back me up.

Terry's peeps are at it again. They don't know squat, just like Terry.

I just realized that I've never patronized a Score advertiser except for Scotts Pet Shop...and they're gone! Sub consciously & even consciously I avoid anyone with ads on WSCR.

I'm just annoyed because I want to figure out _____ Trotter's real first name. It sounds like Jeffin Trotter but that can't be right. Is it Jeffrey, Justin, Jeff, Jeffin? These are the burning questions that eat up my brain cycles and why my life has no meaning.

It sounds like Jepson or Jetson to me. All I know is that he needs some Zoloft. That fucker is the most dour, morose, and depressing bastard I've ever heard.

This comment of yours is what I've been thinking about last 15 minutes. Roe kicked off the show with Cub/Sox talk and it's about 30 minutes into the show and he's still yammering baseball. Some survey must have told him that sportstalk is good.

I thought I was the only one. I used to think is was "Jeff, um...Trotter," then, "Jeff N. Trotter," but I gave up a while ago.

My favorite used to be, as Murph would say on his morning show, "Matta Batta Cola!"

On this topic, what is the name of the South African sounding guy who bought his first property at age 17? Is it Golf Daroos? Dolf? That drives me nuts...

I think it's Dolf De Roos (only because I've seen his name pop up in a few books somewhere along the line).

It should be obvious that they really don't know what a sportsradio listener is, in terms of demographics. You hear a very wide spread from the car dealers to the gambler sites to the Heavenly Bodies, to the shark loan shops.

Even this site has a pretty wide breadth of what constitutes a sports radio fan. Consider the numerous Sports Babe uploads to the people ganging up on OG & drilling him into the ground. If that the demo, what ads do you place on the sportstalk stations?

Out of a combination of sheer boredom and OCD, I googled Flagship Mortgage. It's been driving me crazy (short drive) trying to figure out that douchebag's name. So for those inquiring minds out there, his name is Jeff Entratter. I think Al Barlick came the closest. Congrats Al!

But he will forever live as Jeffin Trotter in my world. I can't believe you actually found that. Now we need to find out if he's actually a sick internet predator and we can get him off the air for good.

Further googling reveals the named principal as a campaign contributor. I was too lazy to look up more as to who, when, and how much but I'm sure some of you fellow dopes will.
