I heard the interview with Eileen Gu after she won the gold last night. What an out of touch, arrogant and spoiled brat. That was an all time awful interview. I can not remember the last time an athlete went on a live mic like that and went out of their way to announce how amazing they were. She started by bringing up accomplishments that the interviewer did not even mention and also mixed in a solid 3rd person reference. She made "Jon Moxon is only one man" look like the humblest speech of all time.

Women's figure skating is the women's gymnastics of the winter games, a lot of teenage girls, have to be somewhat cute, wear sparkly outfits, requires a specific type of athletic ability and some artistic presentation.

The only real difference is that the figure skaters have the ice show thing they can do to monetize success, kind of like the summer county fair circuit for washed up country singers.

She's an American who has to pretend to be Chinese for a few weeks who will likely never be treated the same in her home country again for it. Something tells me that this will end up as a sad story as China slowly stops caring about her now that the Olympics are over.

It probably will. That was very uncomfortable to watch. China will throw her away and she will be treated as one of the worst sell outs of all time by the Americans in her sport. At least she had a direct link to China unlike some other athletes they had competing for them. I heard Chelios talking about his son playing for team China. It sounded like China created an expansion team in the Russian (KHL) Hockey league 3 years ago and filled it with failed NHL prospects. That apparently gave them their 2 years of residency (mystery if any are chinese citizens or not) which allowed them to compete for China.
