Is a 3 egg omelette count as 3 chickens? I’d bet I’m easily 400 a year asssuming we count chicken wings as 2 legs/2 flats per bird.

No because we don't count chickens before they hatch

You’ve consumed 800lbs of chicken in your life?

It's easy to overcook chicken breast where it dries out, but no chance i'd call it "disgusting".

i've had perfectly cooked chicken breast. flavorless. any flavor it has was injected or rubbed into it. I wouldn't even eat it out of the garbage

800 chickens worth of weight. Assuming the average chicken weighs 4-5 pounds.

Prefer thigh to breast by a large measure. Boneless, skinless chicken breast is meh, more a generic protein relying on other ingredients to give it flavor.

This is pretty much true. However, that's a far cry from "chicken breast is the most disgusting meat of any meat regularly eaten in the US"

It's can't be disgusting if it has ZERO flavor.

when people tell me that i HAVE to eat at a restaurant, i ask them if they prefer breast or thigh meat? if they say breast I do not eat at that restaurant.

Again, that's a completely different discussion. I concur that the thigh meat is more flavorful. It's the use of "disgusting" that is being questioned.

I think it's nice to have that blank canvas. There are meals that would be weird with other cuts.

when I refer to "meat" i'm referring to muscle tissue. not organs. fried liverwurst and onions is something i'll eat on occasion but it is definitely more nostalgic. than anything.

I stand by my statement that chicken breast on its own is gross.

Anybody raise chickens? We have a friend who has a couple of them, but I've never really talked to them about it. What do you do with them when the weather is like this?

Raising chickens seems like a really time consuming way to save $15.

I can’t comment on the time consumption and expenditures, but my brother has chickens and there is seriously a noticeable difference between their eggs vs. what da Jewels sells
If I can just benefit from the end product I’m fine

Eggs will be markedly different in summer. Broilers (assuming same breed) depending on how raised will differ as well. Some will like the change, others won’t.

It’s really hard to beat the economies of scale involved in poultry production on a price point. Haven’t raised birds for a few years.

Free range chickens will be eating differently in the summer. They won't have just the grains that farms feed them, they eat insects, and worms, and little frogs and all kinds of shit and they get much kore complete nutrition. The yolks aren't yellow like you see from store bought eggs. They're ike orange almost. Taste differently.
