crushed Northern Iowa to retake the top spot in the MVC. They control the path to the championship with a one game lead in the loss column and five to go. Only two of those games are losable. Hopefully they will put themselves in a position to make the NCAA even if they don't win Arch Madness.

They picked up their 20th win for the 5th year in a row. This has been an incredible run for Williamson as a 5th year senior. I wish Krutwig would have joined him until the end. Three regular season conference titles and counting. Two NCAA Tournament runs and counting.

Huge game against Drake on Saturday. I think if they win this, they will win the MVC regular season title.

I haven't paid much attention to the Ramblers this season, but they looked bad today and appear to be getting worse rather than better.

Is this a coaching problem, a talent problem, or a little of both?

Whatever the case, this is NOT the best team in Illinois.

Also, the Loyola cheerleaders are alternately bovine and porcine. I'm surprised good dolphin would allow such a thing.

looks like it's time to stop paying attention to the Ramblers. Beaten at home by Drake and as TM pointed out, horrendous looking cheerleaders. I think they make DePaul cheerleaders look hot and they are also bottom of the barrel.

They have not answered the bell far too many times this year for a team featuring so many seniors.

The very big problem is that they have nothing at center. Knight does his best but he is undersized. Hutson, at 6'10" has the size and bulk but he has regressed from his freshman year.

They rely entirely on outside shooting and when that is off, they look bad. The defense has also slightly regressed as they don't defend the post very well.

Still, there is one week let in the season and they control their destiny for a regular season championship. It should come down to next weekend's final game against Northern Iowa.

I've noticed the general quality of cheerleading talent is flagging these days. Even the SEC seemed like a 50/50 ratio of good to bad. USC was always the standard and they seemed hit or miss. Loyola has never been good

Seems like a tossup whether Loyola or Bradley is the best team in the state.

naw, SEC is still top rate. It's the northern and midwest schools who have let the liberal policies seep in where you now see cheerleading squads with a set mandatory number of fat chicks. i watched Oregon vs Arizona Saturday night and the Arizona cheerleaders were thin and smokeshow hot.

51 point win on senior night. Williamson (and the rest of this senior group) deserved all of the applause they received. It has been a magical five years for this program.

Now it's time to get back to business. Saturday's game against UNI is for the MVC regular season championship.

The Ramblers had a disappointing OT loss on the road for the regular season conference title. I think they must win the MVC tournament to make the NCAA now. This is the end of an era with the last players from the Final Four graduating. I hope they can finish on a high note.

Arch Madness is going to be crazy this year. Loyola is going to have to be on their game to get by Bradley in the opener!

Arch Madness opener against Bradley this afternoon. They are 5 point favorites but that line is dropping.

People are a little too in love with Bradley because they had a bit of a hot streak. They were 4-8 on the road. I like the Ramblers on long rest and getting a key player in Marquise Kennedy back to take it to them .

This is a tough one to pick. I expect a close game with Bradley getting the win. Time to start the "Fire Valentine" thread?

look at the All MVC teams this year. The previous four years there were Loyola players all over the first, second and third teams. This year they only have Williamson on the first and then Norris on the third. It's simply a less talented group right now. It didn't help that Drake and Missouri State had all of their stars return while Krutwig chose to go to the pros. Despite this they are sitting at 22-7 and played for the regular season title on the last day of the season.

It has definitely been a learning year for Valentine but I think you could argue the team has overachieved.

I am not a close Observer of the Loyola basketball scene, but I have watched a handful of their games this year. They look like they are regressing rather than progressing to me. I take this to be a sign of lackluster coaching.

All year long I heard Loyola was havin' a mediocre year or some shit, and the only way they make the NCAA is by winnin' the fuckin MVC tournament.

Yet I see here they are 24-7. Thats a pretty good year.

Title game on now: There's hardly any fans in that place. The baseline seats are emtpty. WTF.

Nobody went to St Louis for this?

They had not been playing well since a neutral court win against San Francisco two months ago. They were 2-4 against the top half of the MVC this year.

They were a different team this weekend. I think they were worn down during the season, as they had games all scrunched together because of Covid. They are guard dependent and lost one of their best for a month with a hamstring injury. They had a week off in between games, Kennedy returned and suddenly they had the legs for 40 minutes of defense. They gave up 50, 43 and 58 points.

They get two weeks off now. They are dangerous again.

That 40 points was particularly impressive given that they gave up 106 to that same team the week before
