Can’t wait

Quote:
Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment, said tickets for The Batman will cost more than other movies when it opens this week as the chain experiments with variable pricing.

“Currently, our prices for The Batman are slightly higher than the prices we are charging for other movies playing in the same theaters at the same time,” Aron said during a webcast following quarterly earnings. He said the move follows a few years after it successfully raised weekend pricing above midweek levels at some of its U.S. locations.

yeah raise the price of a movie that looks the quality of a CW show...that's progress.

these franchises are so watered down, you can't evaporate them.

I'm surprised it took them this long. It costs more to go to a Knicks game than a Hornets game.

Yet another reason to hope that movie theaters stop having exclusive release windows. It's not good for anyone but movie theaters that you have to wait 6 months to see it anywhere but in one of their theaters.

I'd like a return of the dollar movie theaters that showed movies after they had been out for a couple of months.

A lot of the old second run theatres did some major luxury upgrades and while they're a bit cheaper than 1st run places, it's not by much. I guess they think people care about the seats than than seeing movies on the cheap.

I still like going to the movie theater for these big budget films. It's just not the same at home. I'll be seeing this in IMAX.

So going back to the Keaton movie, is this the 4th interpretion of Batman since the 90s?

Keaton/Clooney/Killmer as Batman
Nolan trilogy
Ben Affleck era? Never watched those ones
This one

Is that right?

Not counting the animated versions, yes.

Warner Brothers has failed multiple times to expand their connected universe like Marvel has.

This movie looks very promising, but it’s not connected to the other live action DC properties.

Part of me wishes they would have just made the Affleck written Batman movie when Ben was still invested in playing the role.

I’ve read and heard from different places that script was very good with a lot of action.

Barrington Square was a great place to see movies for cheap in my teens. Saw such classics as Army of Darkness and Fortress there. Afterwords we would go bowling which was maybe 100 yards from the movies. I think the whole night was maybe 10 bucks a person.

We have one of those. Its an old theatre that is run by the town and not for profit. They mostly show the big kids movies about 2 months after their release. I think its 5$ and maybe $2 for popcorn and a drink.

Just checked my local AMC pricing and it looks like the surcharge on The Batman is pretty modest: tickets are $12.99 for Friday night vs $11.99 for other movies around the same time.

A few years back when the movies went pure digital a lot of local small theaters were in a panic about the cost of updating projectors. I think all of the small local indoor ones managed to make the transition but the drive in over in Galva had to close. I wondered if showing old summer block busters would of garnered an audience if they could get, say Jaws for a couple weeks, would do as far as bringing people in for concessions vs making money on the tickets. It was kind of a cool drive in in that two screens ran at the same time.

I was in a good spot where we had 3-4 within driving distance. The Pickwick in Park Ridge was one but isn't now. All the others closed. There was one in Skokie, Morton Grove and some other I can't remember. Poorer families would bring 10 kids to the theater and let them use it as a playground, but what could you expect for $1. The theaters were always filled.

Begs the question why didn’t it just come out as a 4-part miniseries on Netflix or Prime so we could have 5 different Screen Rant articles asking whether there will and when WILL season 2 air?

It's long, but really good. A completely different Bruce Wayne and a bit of a twist on his backstory. The action scenes are great and it's very well acted. I wasn't disappointed.

McHenry had one like that but the owners shut it down to reopen it as "The Vixen," which definitely doesn't sound like a particularly low-end strip joint at all.

Wanted to like it, but would give it 2.5 out of 4. Much too long, a fairly weak villain, a surprisingly disappointing soundtrack (from one of my favorite composers, Michael Giacchino), not enough excitement/action, and an unsatisfying climax. I really like Pattinson as Batman and could find no fault with his performance either as Batman or Bruce Wayne. Alfred (Andy Serkis) was good, as well as Falcone (John Turturro) and Gordon (Jeffrey Wright). They tried to create some chemistry with Catwoman, but it seemed forced.

It was well made and didn't have nearly as many WTF moments as The Dark Knight Rises, yet if I had to choose one I would take the latter. I don't see myself re-watching The Batman. It just lacked emotion.

Saw it today.
3.5 out of 4 stars.
Pattinson is one of his generations best actors (See Good Time).
Dano should've been on the screen more (infact, I missed a.........moment because I hadn't slept in 24 hours and closed my eyes and BAM)
Did not care for Wright as Jim Gordon. I thought it may have been the lines he had to deal with, but his acting wasn't up to his normal par.
Zoe Kravitz was Zoe Kravitz, i.e. her mother's spitting image and not that great of an actress to match, but she was FOINE.
Overall, It was a lot of fun, and my wife told me the scene I missed because I nodded off wasn't that important, but I'm still irritated that I missed it. I would prbably not see it in a theater again, because as you knw, it's 3 hours long, and I can only fit 4 Heinekens into my jacket pckets and need t piss ccasionally.I will DEFINITELY be buying the 4K in about 3 months.
SEE IT.

nothing special.

Very dark movie without much personality. Kinda boring. Previous Batmans were better.

Lot of action and violence but everything was dark and too fast.

Reading the credits at the end, I never heard of any of these actors. Only thing I wondered if the Kravitz was related to Lenny or some shit.

I would not waste ur time or money.

Lot of kids (teenagers) at the show. Tons of 'em.

She’s the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet of Cosby Show fame.
