Wanted to like it, but would give it 2.5 out of 4. Much too long, a fairly weak villain, a surprisingly disappointing soundtrack (from one of my favorite composers, Michael Giacchino), not enough excitement/action, and an unsatisfying climax. I really like Pattinson as Batman and could find no fault with his performance either as Batman or Bruce Wayne. Alfred (Andy Serkis) was good, as well as Falcone (John Turturro) and Gordon (Jeffrey Wright). They tried to create some chemistry with Catwoman, but it seemed forced.

It was well made and didn't have nearly as many WTF moments as The Dark Knight Rises, yet if I had to choose one I would take the latter. I don't see myself re-watching The Batman. It just lacked emotion.

The climax is unsatisfying I'll agree with you there. It didn't really fit with the rest of the movie. That would be my biggest complaint. I liked the music though. I thought the use of Ave Maria throughout the film was outstanding.

I just saw that The Penguin was played by Colin Farrell. I would have never guessed that was him.

“Disappointed” it’s only a 3* movie to me. You may find this hard to believe, but I don’t get my hopes up too much for these kinds of movies, but Batman has always been my jam. Maybe there’s a 4* 2 hour 25 minute movie in there, but the plot being the weakest part just had too much run time to not get exposed. Everything else was top of the line though.

for a nearly 3 hour movie i thought it went by at a pretty darn good pace, especially when you consider that you're committing just under 1/4 of your waking hours in an average day just to see this movie. i laughed out loud when the movie called back to its original use of nirvana's something in the way at the end of the movie. i was really hoping for batman to nail catwoman before the end of the movie.

otherwise, man, forgive me if this is technically a spoiler but uhh SPOILERS: BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

the incel army made me laugh out loud. seriously what in the actual fuck? didn't we give up the fear and terror of the incel army years ago? OH NO ITS A PRIVATE SOCIAL MEDIA SERVICE WITH 507 MEMBERS / 521 POSTS AND AT LEAST... WHAT, 35-50 OF THEM ARE GOING TO TAKE UP GUNS AND ACTIVELY KILL PEOPLE BECAUSE ONE GUY LIT THE FIRE?!?!

and see, the other problem with batman movies is that nothing will ever be as good as the dark knight rises plane scene. nothing.

I thought it was pretty damn good, bordering on great. The first act was sensational in how it focused on Batman's detective abilities. Pattinson absolutely nailed Batman's brooding intimidation in multiple scenes, which I didn't expect at all, and his Bruce Wayne was interesting. I felt that Riddler's ultimate plot goal was a little too much for the character, but I later learned that it was literally a plot in the comics. Still, while Dano is fantastic as Serial Killer Riddler, I was hoping for more focus on the enterprising criminal mastermind obsessed with proving he's smarter than Batman version we know from the comics. More Heat, less Saw, basically.

I loved the homage to the original TV series at the beginning of the Batmobile scene, but that whole sequence went on way too long for an action scene set at night, in the rain, and the spamming cuts showed.

I like that they set up Venom, and maybe in this series of movies Bane will be given his due, but not at the expense of the stakes of the ending sequence. Jeffrey Wright is one of my favorite actors, but I feel like the writing is giving his version of Jim Gordon short shrift, though he does what he can. This version of Jim just seems kinda...there, simply asking questions puzzled questions and arriving just after the heroes do their thing.

Finally, the woke line offered by Catwoman on the rooftop was gratuitous pandering the likes of which I struggle to find a comp for. I'd watch an entire documentary centered on how that line made it into the final cut, it was that immersion-breakingly forced.

Of course I tend to focus a lot on the negatives, but it cannot he overstated how good Pattinson's Batman is, especially for a fan of the comics. That's a character MANY actors have struggled with, and even Bale's had issues, and his performance buoys how I feel about the movie overall.

Saw this tonight and it was really boring.

First of all, the actor who played Batman looked like a midget for Batman. Some of the scenes were ridiculous looking. Like when Batman and Gordon go into a garage, Batman looks like some fucking halloween trick or treator. The guy wasn't really built to play Batman. At least the other movies had the sense to make Batman taller/bigger than the characters around him. Give him some presence.

Also, there is a mystic about Batman. Here there is none. He's basically a cop walking thru the police station etc.. Again, looked really ridiculous some of the scenes where Batman is helping the crowd , everyone is wearing normal clothing but this freak.

Also, why is Batman being a cop? What gives him the morality to not kill or harm. The things the riddler was against and exposing were legit. I wanted the Riddler to win. The movie didnt give me any characters in gotham that were redeemable and worth saving.

Some of the woke shit was stupid too. Like Catwoman telling Batman about all the 'white' control in gotham.

Movie was way too long and I didnt give a shit about any of the characters. The penguin was shit too. The only guy who played a decent part was John Tuturro.

I saw this two nights ago. Thought it was FANTASTIC! Gave me chills of Watchmen vibes. I thought it was nice and dark depiction of Batman. I am really looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.

I liked this interpretation of Bruce Wayne. The movie seem to suffer from an identity crisis: either be gritty and realistic (exposing the make-up on Wayne's face once he takes the mask off, doing a good job of positioning Wayne as a reluctant hero with deep rooted psychological problems, etc) or be Bond (falling from a building, getting thrown into a bus at top speed, smashed into a street and being fine, dodging bullets at close range from 20 shooters and karate chopping them into submission, absorbing bullets 20+ times and being fine, etc). Fucking annoying. Besides the lazy action scenes that seemed to be filmed out of obligation rather than due to thoughtful writing, I was also disappointed that a handful of important plot developments were advanced by exposition. The rule is show, don't tell. That brings the movie down a notch.

Could have been better but it's ten times better than Dark Knight Rises.

on a completely unrelated note, i really really wanted batman to bang catwoman at the end of this movie b4 sending her off. if you're a metaphorically gifted wunderchild you could opine that she was telling him to take some initiative and get down with her, but lamentably i've never mistaken mr. pattinson for that.... altho i do give him props for basically turning k-stew gay once he was done with her. that's one hell of a trick!

I'd put the first Keaton movie ahead of this one.

Got halfway through this yesterday and finished it this morning. Took me a little while to get into it but thought it finished relatively strong. I thought the new Batmobile was a pretty cool take on
things. Some of the dialogue seemed forced and the writing wasn't the best but the story worked well enough. Dano plays a good creepy Riddler. I had to turn it off at the very end to go to work so
not sure if there are any deleted scenes or things during the credits. I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 bats. I didn't hate Pattinson as much as I thought I would. I still think he is pretty skinny to be Batman
but they made it work ok.
