How are they going to fit a deal for Adams in now?

Again, the cap is a sham. Adams will also sign a deal long enough to reduce his initial hit. There was an article on one of the Packers news sites that broke down how they could unload $90 million in cap money while still retaining all of the key players. (Note: that proposal almost certainly would have killed them down the road).

They can always tag Adams which takes care of this year, and gives time to work out a future deal.

They will likely do both, but I think if they tag him that amount immediately goes onto the cap which hurts the other restructure options.

The cap isn't a sham. The Packers are just going to be terrible for half a decade when the bill comes due for all of this. The Saints are there now.

As I said a long time ago, that drama queen isn't going anywhere. He enjoys the drama. Maybe Aslan will kick him out of Narnia, now that he has this security.

One of the things I find interesting in this is that Mark Murphy will have to retire from the President position when this contract is supposedly up. He is 66 and the President of the organization can't work past the age of 70. No way, he wants to go thru a rebuild when he only has 4 years left also.

That is a great question, I saw the dude that heads the Reese's Senior Bowl reached out to several GMs or people in the know and they said he could bring a 2nd rounder. I would have to do that if I were them.

With their cap situation, the back up quarterback needs to making the minimum, hello Kurt Benkert.

Terrible move.

He ain't winnin' shit.

If he wanted to win he woulda gone to any of 3 or 4 teams that were perfect fits.

If he didnt win this year with GB, he wont ever.

MVS has to step up.

He was basically a second rounder when he was new and shiny. Bad tape and two years of sitting haven't increased his value. He has two+ years on a rookie contract, which has some value. I'd say they could get a 4th.

The Colts reportedly like him a lot and would likely be willing to give more than a 4th to acquire him.

The fact that Green Bay scrapped its plan to jettison Rodgers and start Love should obviously give Chris Ballard pause, though.

If the Pack thought they had drafted another potential HOFer in Love, there's absolutely no way they would have altered their organizational trajectory by signing Rodgers to an enormous, backloaded contract.

This is a great draft so I'd be looking to get as many picks as I could. They may even be able to get Adams replacement in Burks.

Burks will not be available in round 2 unless he injures himself between now and the draft.

I have no clue if any will, but I am telling you he will be in the 1st round. What would be your reasoning that he would not be a first round pick?

Burks had a bad combine, but it's still hard to see him falling out of the first round.

Nevertheless, this is an interesting tidbit:

Quote:
In the vertical jump, Burks leaped 33 inches, a mark that ranks at the 20th percentile all-time among wide receivers.

In the three-cone drill, Burks recorded a time of 7.28 seconds, which ranks at the 8th percentile all-time among wide receivers.

The combination of those two numbers puts Burks in extremely ominous company.

According to Pro Football Reference, there have been 39 wide receivers in combine history to post a vertical jump of 34 inches or less and a three-cone time of 7.25 seconds or more.

Of those, only two (Anquan Boldin and Chad Johnson) have gone on to enjoy successful careers, making up 5% of the sample size. The other 37 players have combined for one 1,000-yard season. To put into perspective how poor the group is outside of Boldin and Johnson, its most productive player is first-round bust Kelvin Benjamin.

Most players who perform at such a lackluster level in both the vertical jump and three-cone are not even considered draftable. Of the 39 players who met the aforementioned criteria, just 13 were drafted. And of the ones that were drafted, only one was taken in the first round (Benjamin).

That is interesting, I suspect his pro day will be much better and then just put on the film, especially against Alabama this year.

I like him a lot, Imo he is the 2nd best wr prospect, everything ive read has him as the 3rd , 4th or 5th in the class. I see 3 qbs going in the first, several D lineman and O linemen.. if you are the 3rd WR taken.. it will probably be very early second round. Or late first. I think both Ohio State guys go before him and the kid from usc. That should put him 2nd round.

Vertical was 35.5" today at the pro day, don't know about anything else.
