Anybody ever had one?

Woke up today with terrible pain in my neck & shoulder blade. WebMD suggests it’s either a pinched nerve, a heart attack, or I’ve been bitten by a bug indigenous to a handful of islands in the Indian Ocean.

Assuming it is a pinched nerve, how long did it take for yours to go away and was it perpetually awful or do you get used to it?

Online it looks like rest is the best thing along with stretching and massage along with ice and heat. If that doesn't help a polar ass plunge may be in order.

About 15 years ago, I tore a ligament in my neck playing racquetball. I barely noticed the initial injury, but it resulted in a pinched nerve a few months later. The pain in my neck, shoulders and arms was excruciating (it felt like I was being electrocuted), and there was no medication that helped with it. Physical therapy worked wonders, though, especially traction and ultrasound. I noticed great improvement after my first session, and it took about a month before I was just about fully recovered. Based on my experience, I would suggest checking with your doctor rather than waiting for the pain to taper off since it might get worse instead.

How is a rub n tug going to solve a pinched nerve?

A few years later I had another pinched nerve in my shoulder blade. A massage therapist cleared that problem up pretty quickly.

couple of years ago i slept wrong and pinched a nerve in my shoulder area. could not turn around or ride my bike. used some heat compress and tylenol and it got better in 2 weeks.

Pretty sure that was actually a chainsaw attack...

I've had back issues for decades, and used both chiro and meds/heat/ice/stretching. But the one time I had an actual pinched nerve, none of the above could fix it. I finally tried acupuncture. My second visit, I felt her hit the offending nerve while inserting one of the needles, it was like popping a blister. Immediate and complete relief.

That's the only time I've been subjected to that constant, unyielding ache.

Pinched nerves are horrible, but at least they tend to go away after a couple weeks
