Wow I was way off. Well they get some solid Cap relief. Do they spend it this year or hold onto it?

They freed up about $6-7 million in cap space. They will need to use all of it this year.

I would assume that Quinn will also be traded prior to the draft.

I would hope Quinn is traded. Tear down.

A new GM wants to start with a clean slate. I can't blame him.

Smith and Johnson are the only starting defensive pieces that should be unavailable. Obviously you move a guy like Gipson in to start at DE and see how good he can be.

Next year will suck something hard.

Well last year sucked hard too mate.

Trevis Gipson had 7 sacks in his second year in limited action. It was time to get him on the field to see if you found something real or its fools gold

OK, the Bears only freed up $6 million for 2022, as I originally said. But they cleared much more cap space in 2023 than I initially thought:

Bears could only include a 2nd round pick to pay LA to take Mack off their cap; Bears 2022 first round pick is going to be Malik Willis on another team.

As soon as the new HC came in preaching hustle and team defense you knew quite a few of the non-hustle, non-team oriented, Nagyesque "Be you" stat chasers would be gone on D.

Expect them to try to move on from several more vets on D, they tried overinvesting in the D and found out that it cannot work in today's QB friendly NFL where you can play perfect defense only to have the mysterious illegal contact or defensive holding flag tossed in key moments of games.

maybe, but we just saw firsthand a 31 year old robert quinn have an incredibly productive season.

He was hot garbage the year before. For $13 million a year I think trading him is the right move if you can get some decent picks

He had some kind of injury called dead leg that year. I wonder if that's like whiskey dick

But what came in between was mostly disappointing.

One great year. Three good years when healthy but overpaid.

He had a great 6 or 7 weeks in 2018. He was Alex Brown and injured the rest of his time here.

He was an All Pro his first year here and one of two players who got DPOY votes.

His first year was awesome.

It was a reputation vote. He got a lot of those. His first 7 or 8 games were great. There wasn't much greatness after then.

Also not convinced Mack would be on the field 75%+ in a four man front.
