Strange the Packers are releasing such a talented player like Smith, considering the claim the salary cap to be a "myth"

Good point, Smith is one year younger than Mack, both coming off injury years, maybe not as high of ceiling, but also didn't have as prohibitive of a deal, and they couldn't even get late round pick for him. But again, the salary cap isn't real, per Packer Nation. All is well. I'll look forward to the Packer Pollyanna Crew to spin this as good news.

I wonder if Smith is a second wave type of free agent signing.

Not possible. Salary cap says no.

Rodgers getting his 3rd big deal and refusing to let the young kids eat will be a locker room problem.

I believe the word Davante Adams used in relation to Aaron is "betrayed"

One of the things I find interesting in this is that Mark Murphy will have to retire from the President position when this contract is supposedly up. Can you blame him? Aaron gets $60M in 1 year and $150M in 3 years; Adams gets ZERO security.

Adams only cares about exceeding the per year value on Hopkins' extension. Russ Ball will use some more of the new math again and make it happen. The Packers have also won every single game Adams' has missed due to injury in the past 3 years IIRC. That will keep him above 27 but below 30.

I don't disagree that Adams is a liability. You should tell the Packers to trade him for Mooney. His contract is cheap enough for the Packers to give Rodgers $80M this year.

A look inside the Rodgers Estate

There is no doubt Rogers makes Adams more than Adams makes Rogers.

Speaking of Cap stuff, the Saints have cleared $80 Million in cap room without releasing a player. This cap thing is very weird.

In 2027 the saints will have $200M in dead cap and will just hire guys off the street to go 0-17

Rogers throws to him like, 50% of the time, even with other WR demonstrably open

why do they call the top of a structure a cap but they don't call the bottom a shoe

Because he has like an 80% catch rate, and he is the best WR in football. He should probably throw it to him more. Adams is that great.

The #Packers are signing former #Bears punter Pat O’Donnell, per source.

I would have thought he was a Bear for life. He was never so bad to be cut and never so good to demand a big contract. He was this era's Bob Parsons

Adams isn't going anywhere.

How are they going to fit a deal for Adams in now?

Again, the cap is a sham. Adams will also sign a deal long enough to reduce his initial hit. There was an article on one of the Packers news sites that broke down how they could unload $90 million in cap money while still retaining all of the key players. (Note: that proposal almost certainly would have killed them down the road).

Whooops
