Over the weekend, I was listening to some of the national shows on WSCR and Steeler fans were curious/dismayed that Pittsburgh had removed themselves from the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes. We now know why!

Imagine a situation where the Bears realize that Nagy/Pace was the problem, keep (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky on a few relatively inexpensive deals, and they have the 20th pick from last year, a 5th round pick, and a 1st and 4th round pick this year, and if he sucks, the picks this year and the year before are simply better.

I'm imagining an 8-9 football team.

That's not bad with 4 extra picks.

I hope this Pittsburgh deal finally puts the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky question to bed. I'm fine with him being gone and super happy having him in the rear view mirror. To me the question of whether he's good or not is answered. He may he serviceable. I don't think he's a top 20 starter by any means.

Not saying it's going to work out, but there are very few options remaining out there. I understand why Pittsburgh thinks this is the best roll of the dice they have. The answer sure is not Mason Rudolph.

Yeah, after they couldn't land Rogers or Wilson via trade he was the best of the bunch. Only a two year deal. Makes me think they will be in on a QB at the draft.

QB Draft in 2022 is really really light. Even if there was a QB to draft in 2022 or 2023, still need time to develop.

Exactly.

The only other wildcard out there is Watson. Thinking he stays in Houston....asking price is just going to be too high.

There isn't a better organization in football to play for. Every quarterback should have been trying to get there. They have really good young WRs, they have a young stud RB, they may have a stud TE, and arguably the 2nd best coach in the NFL. IF they can fix their offensive line, I think the Steelers may be a top 2 or 3 team in the AFC next season.

Tomlin won't coddle Mitch. He better have thicker skin than needing the TV's turned off at Halas Hall.

I don't think he needed a hug; I believe a quality coach who was honest would have been sufficient.

Edit: I suspect Tomlin won't ask him to be Mahomes.

I don't see how this move makes Pittsburgh better than KC, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Baltimore, Tennessee or the Chargers.

I hear you, but they were better than those teams with a crippled Roethlisberger in 2020. Offensively, I'm not sure if there are many teams with better young talent at the skill positions. Defensively, I expect them to be elite.

Probably locks them into 3rd place in that division unless Jackson gets hurt again.

I think the days of Mahomes living off of Hill and Kelce is about to end. Outside of Andrews, what does Jackson really have?

I’d take Pittsburgh’s skill guys but that’s a pretty big gap at the most important position on the field.

I don't think that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is better than Jackson or Mahomes talent wise, but in a run first offense, I think he can be really good with the play action pass. I think he's a lot better than most Bears fans think he is.

He’ll also have a much better line/running back than he ever had in Chicago. I just have a hard time seeing them as better than Cincy or a healthy Baltimore.

Burrow needs a better head coach. He's Brady like.

I hope he learned how to read zone coverage in Buffalo.

Yeah, that was a challenge. Great against man and mostly awful at recognizing a zone.

If Mitch stays healthy and they address the O-Line problems in Pittsburgh this spring, then the Steelers will win that division.

He'll be the 3rd best. Baker Mayfield sucks.

What would (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky have to do next season for you to say that you were wrong about him?

I don’t disagree with the premise but Mitch is better than 2021 Ben. They’re not winning the division though.

The Ravens defense was garbage for much of last year.

Thanks for your service Mitch.

Best of luck with an actual coach and offensive coordinator.

Mitch will start the season strong but will either be injured or benched by Week 12.
