Man what a great trip. Loved everything about the cruise. We arrived in Seattle a day before leaving and hung out in the city. It had a cool feel to it, much different than any other big city I have been to. We did the space needle and ate at a couple local small places.
We had a couple sea days to start the deal. We had some maintenance issues and the boat was not able to go at full speed so we arrived at our first port in Juneau about 3 hours later than expected. That canceled our excursion there. But we took a tram ride up to the top of a mountain there and hung out at a lodge overlooking the port/town. They had some crab nachos and a good local IPA.
Next day we traveled to Skagway. We took a small van tour up to the Yukon territory in Canada. Our guide was a local photographer and he showed us several cool places. The best was a suspension bridge over a river in between two mountains. Some great scenery. And got to see a bald eagle fly right in front of our van as we headed back to town.
The highlight of the trip was no doubt the day at Glacier Bay. That place is just fucking amazing. We cruised in the bay for over 6 hours. Just no words can do justice to how amazing things there are. The day at Glacier Bay is my favorite place I have ever been on any type of vacation.
Had a couple sea days before porting at Victoria BC. We took a whale watching tour there. We got to see a group of 5 orcas. They put on a good show in a little bay. The guide said he thought they had just finished off a seal and were celebrating their meal.
Headed back to Seattle the next day. The entire ship experience was great. The staff was amazing. The dining hall had a great choice of meals each night and always kept a few favorites on the menu each night. One of our waiters learned quickly that my wife was really picky but she loved their pan roasted chicken and he made sure to have that for her each night. I tried a variety of meals from salmon to beef wellington to shrimp.
My wife had always wanted to do a cruise and I was pretty leery about it all. But I am sold on it. We will no doubt cruise again in the future. The only negative was the maintenance issues, but they gave each passenger money back to our account to make up for it. We have money left in our account that we can use for a future cruise.
I highly recommend to anyone!
In W_Z fashion I give it
