Thought this was about the end of the Plantagenets and the ascendancy of the Tudors. 2/5 balls; would not recommend.

The story of the girls is obvious. He is a bit murkier in my memory. He seemed stubborn and crotchety and not a media guy. Maybe I misremembered but was surprised someone wrote a movie. The other thing I never remember was anyone calling him King Richard. I will have to see this.

Way to go man, trying to make the movie about a white southern male.

King Richard II: The Rise of Marv Marinovich

The overbearing parent used to be an oddity. My parents rarely even came to games. I can watch abusive youth sports parents any day of the week nowadays.

He has 10 kids and it sounds like he only pushed Venus and Serena because they wanted it. Doesn't look like he was abusive in any way to his daughters or his wife. In fact, he took some significant lumps to protect his family from the streets.

I’m sure he had significant love for his kids. The bad rap I only ever heard was that either he was bad to media or didn’t play by tennis’ rules. So what. No different than Tiger’s dad or many others.

He appeared to be a far smarter version of someone like Lavar Ball while shielding them from some of the worst aspects of youth sports. Not a Joe Jackson type of father.

I see it’s on HBO so May give it a watch. Seems like he has a decent chance at an Oscar tonight.

I saw it last night on HBO. It was pretty good. Long though. They ignore Serena and she was the best tennis player in the family.

Will Smith did a really good job. I'm sure he will win.

Will Smith just lost his mind at the Oscars, or really sold the bit…

Chris Rock made a joke about Jada, and Will walked up on stage and punched him. That part looked scripted, but then when Will went back to his seat, he’s screaming “keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!”. Bleeped here, but there’s clips from other countries where it wasn’t

That shot to Rock’s face sure sounded scripted…

Ya it looks like it was scripted but bombed. Looks like the other hollywood windbags in attendance didnt get the joke and thought it was real.

Missed opportunity by Chris Rock to say "I'll be feeling that til August"
