In the early 20th century, Charlie Murphy was the most successful — and controverisal — owner in the major leagues. Author Jason Cannon joins us to discuss the iconoclast behind the Chicago Cubs dynasty.

i loved it when after the chappelle's show renaissance of his life and charlie was doing standup people started coming up to him like "ayo man whats it like to be the funniest murphy these days?" and all he'd say about comps to his brother was "look at his house!"

Very quick, but great impression of Charlie by his brother.

I thought the standup routine Charlie Murphy was working small clubs with after the initial Chappelle show blow up in interest in Eddie's brother sounded like an Eddie influenced or even penned set. When I caught Charlie Murphy's standup as a headliner at Second City a few years later, it sounded like pure Charlie Murphy--or at least no Eddie influence--but had very few laughs.
