They don't even HOPE to capture the 18-29 crowd. That show IS written for 35+.

I DVR SNL. To your point, the ad preceding the cold opening was a pharmaceutical ad. That’s what you usually see during the Evening News.

Watched the latest episode last night. As usual it is hit or miss.

Fake Target ad for Thanksgiving was mildly funny, not their best.

DogMan skit had me laughing pretty good mostly because it was stupid, the dog wasn't behaving and the actors were starting to lose it

Weekend Update was probably one of the best this season, those guys are generally pretty good and the side skits are usually the hit or miss part. Baby Yoda is ridiculous but had a few funny
parts like when he was talking about the mom from Berenstein Bears.

The Republican or Not skit was very well done and they didn't draw it out longer than it needed to be.

I generally skip over the monologue and all the music as I usually don't know the actors and almost never know the musical guests anymore.

No need. He's already half dead. Just tell him to pack his shit. He will. For a pudding.

It was a strange episode.

They should have just played a straight rerun.

Too bad. Paul Rudd is usually pretty good as a host.

How different could it be if no one in studio was laughing?

It was much worse than I was expecting. Turned off after Weekend Update and honestly shouldn't have hung in there that long.

Did they use a laugh track? I can't imagine SNL without a studio audience...must have been really weird.

If something isn't funny, it really underscores that fact. That was especially evident during Weekend Update.

SNL sucks these days but this was ok -

Fox News Ukraine Cold Open - SNL

They have a great opportunity to do Kamala's fuck ups like they did Sarah Palin but they won't touch Kamala as they're in bed w/ the democrats.

Having Maya Rudolph suck she/he/they/them’s dick on national tv probably would cause them to lose their license.

Last week with John Mulaney they did a send-up of You Can't Do That on Television that absolutely nailed it. You Can't Do That on Television hasn't even been on in reruns since 1993 (so I guess you really couldn't). You'd have to be at least 33 years old with a steel-trap memory to get it.

Also, that new Lonely Island ripoff is the drizzling shits, a combination of my least two favorite trends in comedy: "this proves you don't have to be transgressive to be funny," and rich people's shitty kids. I watched this clip and I wanted to die.

Fuck SNL tonight.

They did one skit on the Rock/Smith thing. It was Ok I guess. Could have been better. Could have been awesome and an all timer. I could have written a better skit. Then they touched on it during Weekend Update. That was OK as well. Could have been better.

Just saying, they had all week to think about how to make this funny. They failed.

I would have doubled down on this shit if I'm SNL. Tripled down, actually. Do three skits about it. Because it's what people wanted. In the end it's harmless. I know he got slapped. But this only helps Rock. Smith is rich as hell. It hurts him initially but he'll still get movies. There will be a moment in 2 or 3 years where the academy welcomes him back. Rock will be there to hug him at the Oscars. They'll make a TV moment out of it. You know that's coming.

Seems like SNL was too protective with this. Cuz Rock was one of theirs.

Norm McDonald would have done an entire Weekend Update where every item had a GI Jane punch line.

Should have brought back dave chappell to write and act both rock and smith, the whole bit. He could have blended the rick james charàcter into both

I know I shouldn’t expect better. But the cold opening was yet another Fox News parody. The Judge Pierro immitation is great, but tired. The Trump guy is very good but he hasn’t been in office for over a year.

I guess there is nothing funny about Biden, Hunter, Harris, Psaki, etc.

Only republicans can be made fun of, and they don’t currently control any branch of our government.

Yeah they never make fun of Biden or Harris. And Trump is definitely not in the news anymore.

“I'm not a biologist" could provide a lot of comic fodder. SNL chose to make fun of the question. I wonder why?

Because the question was stupid and irrelevant? Or was your question (in your mind) rhetorical?

Why do you think the question is stupid or irrelevant? It wasn't rhetorical.

Gotchas are best when there’s an underlying truth.

A woman that will make infallible rulings on issues impacting women who’s incapable of identifying who is or is not a woman seems meaningful.

It's not a gotcha though. There is truth or there isn't. There is science or there isn't. To some degree there is compassion or there isn't. Her answer to that question, politics aside, is offensive, not based in reality, and grotesque.
