For most of my life i had thought a crick was a mini-creek. Like something you could jump over.

We had a crick down our back dirt road. If I were more Mark Twain-ish, I'd have spent Summer evenings there and wrote about my adventures.

My grandfather, being a rural boy at heart , was a crick and Warshington guy. My dad will occasionally say crick. I’m a creek person but will use crick when talking of named local creeks if I’m speaking with locals. So if doc and I were hanging out at the Captain Swift covered bridge sipping Sarsaparilla I’d refer to the body of water as Bureau Crick. Now you may think this sounds odd… it does sound odd.
