I got laughed at that when I mentioned Warshington. It seemed natural...then.

250 N Warshington?

  Bingo!

I used to work at 225 W. Warshington but that was in Chicago. Nice view from my office down toward the Daley Center.

There was a good-sized crick across the street.

I sometimes call the refrigerator an "icebox", a habit I picked up from my grandmother. My wife finds it annoying for some reason.

I used to do the same as a kid, but just about no one knew what I was talking about outside of my house. I grew up in Chicago and the deep south at the same time.

I picked up on 'warsh' when I lived in Champaign. I use it to this day simply because my wife finds it annoying

You've gotta annoy your wife on purpose occasionally. My grandmother's name was Elizabeth- Bess for short. She HATED being called "Bessie." Guess what my grandfather called her.

My late, Louisiana born mother in law used to call them all the Frigidaire. Every so often, that slips in.

Oddly enough I used to pick up on the tone, pace and wording of the crowds I was immersed in. As a kid I got teased for sounding white when I was in suburban school and years later in college most of my group was from California, so many presumed I was from there.

I have an actual icebox. It's about 120 years old or so, not sure exactly. It was our family one from the farmhouse at the turn of the 20th Century.

My Dad used it as his liquor cabinet by the time we had actual electricity but I got it in the "Parent's passed away Draft of stuff in the house" with my brothers. It's wood and I got it redone. I always thought it was cool.

Cost a lot to have it redone authentically but it looks good.

I would love to see a pic of that.

What do you use it for Doc?

I just looked on eBay; he's cheaper than I expected. And has wood, too.

We used to have it in a more prominent place in the house but The Bandit wasn't a big fan of it so now it is used for storage in the laundry room. Not in a very photogenic position currently.

Still in great shape though. When I was a kid, my Mom had painted the inside of it red and it always smelled like paint and Seagram's 7. When I got it redone I tried to get authentic so it is silver inside. I'll try to get a pic.

Here you go. I took this opportunity to bring it out and find another place for it.

And, yes, that is an autographed framed pic of DA COATCH!!!

I had the original hardware on it refurbished also. I had forgotten I did that. It was 20 years ago.

Damn right.

Have I been unclear on the Bears/Illini fandom I've had the past few years?

You can't see the Cubs wall around the corner. Got some sweet old scorecards up.

1951 and 1952 I bought. My favorites are the late '70s ones that were mine with the artwork on the front.

Awesome picture of Ditka! What are the dimensions? Mongo, Marshall and Otis were my favorites on the '85 Bears, and I've been looking around for some good signed pictures of them lately.

That Ditka one is 24x28.

I got it in an auction at an event I attended that he spoke at and dismissively shook a lot of hands. You gotta love Ditka. I probably bought some salsa there too.

Get this one, TM. I used to have this one. I'm sure you can find one signed.

I met Otis at one of the Mac golf outings. He was in the group behind us.

Had 2 really hot women with him in his group. He's Mama's Boy Otis, ladies all loved him for his body and his mind.

What a beautiful piece. I haven't seen one since my yute in the old family farmhouse in Dwight, IL.

Thanks for posting it.

It has sentimental value.

My investments are limited to ETH and FanDuel. The Spurs could have gotten me $600 last night if they could hit a bucket or two down the stretch.

If you'd have seen it in the 1980s, it was horrible. Just a horrible mess of old furniture.

Amazing what a bit of refinishing on the wood can reveal.

If there isn't a "Dr. Ken's Icebox" mult yet, we've really lost our way.

It's worth infinitely more without that unfortunate picture atop it.
