The older I get, the more I seem to seek out Country/Americana music. Here's one of my current favorites.

I really liked this cover of Thank You from Zep. Nice original arrangement.

It's like a mix of Zep, Blind Melon and the Cranberrys.

Other than that, it's some original AC/DC today.

Listening to tracks available on YouTube right now.

Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron have joined forces to form 3rd Secret. The new supergroup also features Bubba Dupree, guitarist for trailblazing D.C. hardcore outfit Void, and vocalists Jennifer Johnson and Jillian Raye, who also perform with Novoselic’s other band, Giants in the Trees.

3rd Secret surprised fans by dropping their debut self-titled LP Monday night, which was primarily recorded and mixed by famed grunge-era producer, Jack Endino.

In keeping with my Good Friday tradition, I just listened to "Good Friday" by the Black Crowes and slammed a beer.

I just found this awesome band that combines two of my favorite genres together : Power Metal and Military History.
S.A.B.A.T.O.N. out of Sweden ,if you play any Paradox titles you have heard some of their stuff. They even have a youtube channel devoted to teaching the history behind the stories told in the songs. I love them so far.

Great Bonham drumming track and vocals by Plant.

The only time they played Out On The Tiles Live was the great Blueberry Hill show from Sept 4, 1970.

Zeppelin III was fucking great. Shows the influence of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

i find most of my listening habits now are either when i'm in the office at work (which is only once a week), and being at the gym.

listening to a spectrum of genres but heavy on rotation has been megadeth, obituary, sepultura, and death. church of disgust and acid witch has also been added to the mix.

other bands i've been checking out include cannons, the linda lindas, longwave, yoke lore, widowspeak and letting up despite great faults.

Recorded at Paragon Studios in Chicago and released on 7-7-77. I actually ate dinner Friday at a place in that exact location where the studio used to be (Halsted and Fulton).

My favorite song from the album is not one of the hits; it's Man in the Wilderness.

It's a great album and I did not know that about it's release.

The studio lasted until 2015....that's a nice run!

During transition Bernstein saw Zac Brown and has greatest hits. Spiegel's favorite concert is Sonic Silk. Both dreadful music. Befitting choice for Spiegel's ilk.

It took me a long time to really appreciate Like Flies on Sherbert, but I can see now that it's the logical progression from Sister Lovers. And if you listen to I Am the Cosmos you can draw a straight line from the first two Big Star records. I always considered Big Star Alex's band but it seems that the Big Star that is so beloved was really driven by Chris Bell.

Anyway, this is a weird masterpiece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zquQfwrPAwQ&t=419s

Underneath all the strangeness Chilton and Dickinson are layering on, the songs are there.

Here's one of the better ones fully realized in a cover version:

Who doesn't love those Catholic school girls?

Plaid skirt and a flannel vest
Silly nubiles are the best
Now you're lookin' so forlorn
On the way home in your uniform

I've gone down a small youtube/spotify wormhole of Spotify's "radio" function where they play stuff after your playlist ends based on what others who listened to those songs are listening to. The ones I really like, I save to the "found in 2022" playlist, and then when I restart the playlist it gives me new selections after I've finished it.

I'm pulling up my phone to see what's on the list, which was originally seeded with a single song, Lake Street Dive's Hypotheticals (I'd listen to Rachael Price sing the contents of a 1973 Yellow Pages): Melt, Atlas, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Lawrence, Sir Woman, Akie Bermiss (from Lake Street Dive), Couch. A few of these groups (Melt, Couch, Lawrence) seem to all know each other from the NYC-Boston-Yale-Brown college circuit. All early 20s lead singers, all 6-8 piece co-ed groups with a pronounced horn section. The lead signers from the first two were two of six backup singers on Lawrence's gospel-acoustic version of Don't Lose Sight, which is only on YouTube.

Separately, a fair amount of Morgan James and a little bit of Sara Niemetz. But mostly I've been trying to weed through my "Liked Songs" where Spotify merged in previously liked albums so now I have a lot of B-sides and non-singles from older artists to get out of there.

I've also been listening to a lot more instrumental electronic music while I work. Spotify's "Deep Focus" playlist is pretty good for that.

Is he still trying to make an album named after every state? I haven't heard much of his stuff, but what I have heard seems a little too sensitive and fragile.
