He was a charicature on TV but I got to see him in person and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Like 1/3 of the audience didn't laugh though.

If you want a fun time, pull up an old stern show on youtube where he argues with Amy Heckerling's assistant. Her parent's died in a concentration camp and Gilbert was as sympathetic as expected.
