Always nice to find a pile of sod by the road, grab it, and get it all down five minutes before a storm comes through. Not enough to cover the entire thing but free is free.

Everyone talks about 2011 up here as the worst blizzard in recent memory.

Blizzard started May 1st, and 100mph winds knocked power out for 3 days.

I came up a couple years after that, and I’ve seen some bad snow storms.

This is pretty bad so far, but not as fierce as snowmageddon in 2010 or whenever it was in northern IL.

Got a couple bouts of heavy rain. Should be nice and soggy not to mention half frozen this weekend on the golf course. Anyway I went out this morning to check my rain gauge. picked it up to inspect and it's empty. Must have a hole or crack in it somewhere. I bring it in all winter to avoid it breaking but suppose I was due for a new one anyway.

Was umpiring a frosh softball game at Willowbrook HS and the coach said they had to cancel the varsity game because the wind blew the backstop down at that field.

i can vouch for the winds... today a tree in our backyard was literally uprooted from the ground to lean over on the old slide/swing/playset thing. even tho it was 50 degrees it felt worse than all of the cold and rainy 35-45 degree days i've had when i'm coming to work (seriously it typically gets nice when i'm off sun/mon/tues then weds has been like 60-70 degrees but rain and then by the end of the night it's 35 degrees outside, then it maintains a 45/35 hi/lo phase for my entire workweek. clearly i've offended some wannabe pagan gods who hang out in the woods and listen to a lot of VNV nation)

2nd blizzard in a week hit yesterday, and now the power is out for the whole city.

Good thing the wife had the baby Thursday, so we could get back home before the storm hit.

Thanks for asking.

Baby was 8lbs 15oz, and fully healthy.

Mom is doing great, and were fortunately in the hands of the best baby doctor in the area.

The anesthesiologist was telling us, counting our baby, there were 5 babies born in a 9 hour period the same day.

He was wondering if it had something to do with the barometric pressure before the blizzard hit, because that is a high number considering the population density.

Sirens sounded for about 15 minutes. Just emerged from my basement unscathed.
