With the Pirates and Reds in their division, 78 wins should be a given.

their entire approach to hitting is refreshing to see.

Hard to believe they (or any team these days) could score 21 runs with just one homer.

I heard the Cubs are 2nd in putting the ball in play. Something a fan can be overjoyed about.

Yes great to see. I cannot understand the strikeout mentality that has made the game unfun.

Good guy, has a foundation?

you probably won't like them for long - tough stretch coming up. just too many retreads that were cast off from shitty clubs anyways.

This is not a good team. They try hard now that the candy ass core that expected to just show up and magically win is gone. What is irritating is that there is nothing to look forward to this year as far as the next new piece of the puzzle arriving. Davis is the closes and he is getting his ass handed to him in AAA right now. Amaya should be the starting catcher for the Cubs but his path got derailed a few years ago and now he probably wont even play a minor league game until the very end of this year if at all. The majority of the talent is years away.

He IS a regular guy. You'll be able to hang out with him when he is a hitting instructor to little league travel players in a couple of years

Listened a little to today's CHGO Cubs podcast. Mildly interesting. Analysis from each panelist was breaking down why they lost 3 out of 4 to the Pirates. I'd like to see a more honest this team isn't a contender how constructed. Their biggest strength is their weak division. Nobody cares about the 1 year and out guys in a revolving door. Only an idiot would get emotionally invested in a team not trying to win. It's all about the guys who'll be here into the future when they're actually trying to win. Unfortunately the podcast was a little edgier than Score Cubs talk.

Pederson could not have been more disinterested playing at Wrigley. Fuck him.

You can hang out with him in Iowa now.

Simmons may be coming up as early as Tuesday, so Frank was in trouble anyway. He might not even get regular playing time in Iowa because they promoted Nelson Maldonado from AA to Iowa last week.

If some combination of Rivas, Wisdom, and Happ can hold down 1B at anything close to league average offense, Frank will never see Wrigley again without buying a ticket.

Meanwhile, they need a real backup 3B because Villar isn't it.

No surprise. Anyone with brain could see his run last year was fools gold.

Not sure Wisdom isnt far behind him, although he seems a litle more consistent in his time in the majors.

Wisdom at least has average to above average defense at 3B and can back up at 1B/LF in a pinch. And the organization doesn't have much in the minors at 3B so they may as well give him at least to the trade deadline.

The fellating of Suzuki is not aging well either. By my math he is striking out over 1/3 of the time and has a sub .250 average now.
