Have you ever heard of this guy TM?

To Bob Zeni, a perfectly round and perfectly red store-bought tomato is something to look at, but not to touch. In fact, Zeni hasn’t purchased a tomato since 1990. He grows his own heirloom tomatoes to avoid buying what he calls “tasteless travesties” or “red water balloons.”

“Gardening itself is very satisfying and certainly enjoyable,” Zeni said. “Seeing the way it looks is beautiful.”

We don't have a raised garden anymore but have done pots the last few years. My wife's mother is coming to visit starting this weekend so my guess is over the course of the 8-10 days she will be staying they will get some pots planted. Likely tomatoes and jalapenos. Not exactly sure what else might go in.

The cold spring hasn't gotten us out to do much in the garden this year. We will hopefully begin planting here shortly. that said our asparagus is up and we've been basically eating it every night.

16 4x6 raised beds and a number of flower beds are being "installed" this year as well.

There is a huge taste difference between the store bought tomatoes and home grown. Usually do several cherry tomato plants via container garden, and they taste much sweeter than the grocery store stuff.

Bought everything today. Tomatoes, peppers, basil, herbs, annuals for the pots and mushroom compost for the tomatoes. Started putting the stuff in this evening. It'll take me another day or two to finish.
