Think it was Uncle Terry or Mac that would use the phrase, "appointment radio", to alert you to something upcoming you didn't want to miss.

There is very little today that meets that standard, other than live sports, which is why the NFL does huge numbers, but nearly everything else is available for consumption at your leisure.

The biggest one for me back in the day was the Sunday morning All Star Wrestling AWA show at 11 AM Sunday, would rush home from the parent mandated worship attendance, quickly discard the required Sunday finery, and plop down to watch my guy the Baron slap the claw on Nacho Berrera, Tom "Rocky Stone, or Jake "The Milkman" Milliman.

The WCW Sunday Morning show back in the early-mid 90's for me....ended right around kickoff

Now? Everything starts on DVR so I don't have to watch commercials...except for football.

I'd say the only two things that are almost a sure bet good time in the current sad state of entertainment is NFL games and a Tom Cruise movie. Most of the shit on streaming and in movie theaters are all watered down let's try to please everyone garbage. And baseball basketball and hockey have way too many games. I used to love those sports but I don't have any interest in watching 80 plus games a year. Also, when was the last time a hard R comedy guy movie was released? You know the Will Ferrell Vince Vaughn American pie type of stuff. Let's not even discuss music. What a shitfest. Anyways my old man rant is over

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Live trial coverage is crazy popular on youtube.

As a yute, Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser and This Week With David Brinkley were not to be missed.

Correct - 99% of shows on Netflix are garbage and poorly produced. Same w/ the other streaming services. Watching is more something to do rather than making time to watch.

McLaughlin got cartoonish at the end. Or maybe after seeing the SNL parody watching it was filtered through the SNL parody.

Who you crappin’ was appointment radio for me during the heavy fuel crew days.

Now, I even record Bears games and start watching around 2PM (for a noon start). Fast forward through commercials and halftime and I’m caught up live by the end so I can post here and listen to postgame shows.

Bears, NFL and sports playoffs. Everything else can be watched OnDemand or heard on a podcast, so you don't truly miss anything if you miss it in real time.

Men's golf majors, Ryder Cup and President's Cup.

I used to have a lot more when I was younger. Mainly sports, but some news and TV series. The older I get, the less things move the needle for me.

Live sports are about the only thing of interest to me, and that is limited to mostly NFL content, Hawks playoff hockey was fun, but that is not happening again any time soon.
