I would think NBC and the Score will part ways with Olin due to the legal risk associated with retaining him as an employee.

olin claims CTE does a public speaker gig and gets rehired as the score's new primetime host

His actions after the incident is why he should be fired. That tweet was beyond stupid.

you can't physically attack co workers.

If only the two of them were present, maybe Hoge could be a bigger man and not report but in front of whatever constitutes management at CHGO, they have to act. It's not like this is a first time for Olin and he's not a kid in a locker room anymore.

I like Olin but he seems to go through life thinking he can walk through life physically intimidating to win an argument rather than have a logical argument

Still prevalent in many segments of society, many do not ever encounter this type of mindset because they never interact with people on the margins, but run into this type of behavior all the time at work, in fact if you are involved in certain types of activities it is a given. There is tons of research out there about how witnessing violent behavior when you are young will result in a person repeating said behaviors, maybe a bit much for the board here, but is interesting nonetheless.

That said, it would seem, given his ongoing pattern of behavior, that Olin be required to undergo CTE screening, an MRI of his brain would likely show damage, it really is an opportunity for someone to step up and intervene because this behavior will escalate.

The warning signs are there, if this were someone showing early onset dementia there would be a process to identify and treat to protect the person and others, but fear nothing will be done and the next time you read about Olin he will have done something far worse.

Can you identify CTE before death now? I suspect any MRI would clearly show that he's an asshole.

This also seems like standard neanderthal behavior, no? Like GD said some think you still win arguments by imposing force. And the meme Kreutz sent afterwards suggests he thinks Hoge crossed some sort of verbal line that forced Kreutz to remind Hoge where each of them stood in Kreutz's warped hierarchy. Nevermind that the Tyson and Kreutz situations were not apples to apples.

CTE, steroids or not these elite athletes that act like this never change their bully ways from HS through retirement.

Keeping him would not hurt ratings. It may help ratings. Probably should rehire him and turn it into a meme or a bit.

Or we could keep clutching our pearls.

Would give you diagnostic data, likely combine anger management therapy with meds to mitigate behaviors like they do with anyone who behaves irrationally, that is only if there is an interest in preventing future behaviors, and there is plenty of evidence about how this escalates, just read the sobering stories about Dave Duerson.

Most of society fears this type or person because they are totally unmanageable, so they just let them do what they do until they end up incarcerated or dead.

Kreutz wasn't trying to win an argument. He got physical with Hoge because he felt dissed.

As he explained on the Score several months ago, he tried to attack Aaron Kromer for the same reason.

Remember when the score was getting all over George McCaskey for calling Olin a liar? Well, doesn't this help his case? He's kind of crazy

Is what Olin did really that much different than what Mac did to Tiny? Or what Buffone did to Bernstein?

Why are you having a hard time with this even after finding out that Hoge didn't get a restraining order and actually tried to get Olin to do the show AFTER being snaked from behind by Olin?

Buffone was an older man and Bernstein was being Bernstein. Mac and Tiny are evenly matched.

Buffone was 6'3". Bernstein is 5'6".

Kreutz is 6'2". Hoge is 6'3".

Exactly. If Hoge thinks it's a minor dustup, or at least something that can be moved on from, shouldn't everybody also take that tact? Why be outraged for someone who isn't outraged? A simple apology, man to man, and if accepted, move on. Shit's simple.

As you know, legal liability is the issue here, especially given what has become a KNOWN pattern of behavior with Olin (U of Washington, Bears, New Orleans, CHGO). He is likely unemployable for in-person work.

I's a slam dunk point. Doesn't mean I have to like it, or that it's proper. I just have to live with being posterized.

I think this sums it up best.

I enjoy Olin's commentary, but the dude just can't shake off the meatball gene. Best he retires and enjoys the rest of his life outside of a work setting involving other people.

I'm not much of a football fan but I listen to him. It's a shame we can't put Olin's engaging conversational talent into Anthony Herron. Wish that guy would choke somebody.

I kinda prefer the Mannelly and Herron approach to talking football. Olin is great whenever he isn't discussing one of his clients or has an ax to grind.

Edit: What type of man doesn't like football?

I'm talking about the Score and NBC. I anticipate that both outlets will let Olin go.

I wonder what the grade school team he coaches will decide.
