Exactly, kinda thought it was a quid pro quo type thing where a young model hooks up with a successful actor, she gets mentioned in the tabloids which helps her land acting gigs, he gets...well he gets a few months or a year of play time, and then both move on to the next step.

Remember reading about the old studio system where they would set up dates between the new starlets and bachelor actors to give her publicity while keeping him in the news between movies, sometimes these went horribly wrong for the starlets, and sometimes it was just a cover for closeted male stars.

At some point you have to cut your losses. How is this trial helping Johnny Depp at all? He would have been better off just giving her half of his money, make another stupid pirates movie and then go back to doing his thing. Hopefully he learned his lesson and won't date another crazy person LOL

That was my thinking, but it seems this trial is resuscitating Depp's reputation to the point he will be back making mainstream movies again after it's over. Amber Heard even fired her PR people midway through the trial because she's getting savaged in the press and on social media.

Whether or not Depp wins a money judgment against Heard, he's already won this trial in terms of reputation and PR. She should fire her lawyers, they are terrible. Depp's lawyers aren't much better, but in comparison to Heard's battleaxe lady lawyer and her doofus self-objecting partners Depp's lawyers at least come across as somewhat likable.

It's a pretty awesome trial and he is doing exactly what someone who is mistreated should be doing.

Guy was defamed and lost work over an accusation that seems like it may be untrue. He’s also rich & has nothing else to do, so seems like a decent use of resources to try to clear his name.
