One quarterly loss since 2015?

I wonder how it stacks up in comparison to the one being closed at DePaul/Lincoln Park?

Are you serious? Do you mean the corp or the store?

The article itself was vague. But I'd like to see a comparison between the returns or losses between the two Chicago stores being closed.

I don't know how Whole Foods competes. In any neighborhood. I've never set foot into one. I go to Half Foods.

I've been in the one in Hyde Park twice in five years. Before that I hadn't been in one since the nineties. I've never thought about going into the Englewood or DePaul locations.

Fwiw; my son bought some steaks from there last fall. They weren't that much better than stuff I've gotten elsewhere.

They are really well placed. Hinsdale has 2 locations (really) and supports both of them. Those 2 locations also draw from willowbrook/burr ridge and western springs. Glen Ellyn/Wheaton supports one. Naperville supports one and Oak Brook/Elmhurst supports one. The surrounding areas are okay areas and people can't shop every week but for lunch, parties, or special items gives them enough business to stay open.

Their produce used to be phenomenal even though it could be pricey and sometimes downright unreasonable. It's still pretty good but it has declined. The meat has had the steepest decline. I've never thought much of their bakery. Their buffet is nice when you don't want to eat crap. They have the best supermarket sushi. Their olive bar has my favorites and their cheese section is great but you can find less costly items at places like Brookhaven standard market or Caseys by us at least.

"Whole Paycheck" is what it's called in our family. Once in a while (maybe around valentine's day?) I'll notice a special on cut flowers. Otherwise I have no use for it.

IMHO Whole Foods is vanity shopping. Nothing more.

I've only been to them sporadically over the years with the last time probably being 2014 or 15. All I remember was the food was okay and they had a good beer selection in Phoenix. And I guess it was nothing like the old Fresh Fields in Evanston I visited circa 1995.

I have yet to find a grocery store with steaks as good as any of the area butchers. Ground beef even more so.

I've been to the one in Englewood a few times, but I don't remember why. Everything was overpriced. I did get a steak from there because JORR recommended it. Mariano's is better in every way.

Any place you get whole muscle grind is going to be better than 90% of grocery store grind. Stores used to grind a lot of their own but now it comes to them in chubs and they just repackage it even if it looks like bulk grind.
