off the top of my head:
KISS - Destroyer / Rock and Roll Over
TOOL -Undertow / Ænima
Talas - Sink Your Teeth into That / High Speed On Ice (Sheehan is one of my biggest Bass influences. I bought these at a little record store in downtown Park Ridge with my firs caddy payday)
Slayer - Show No Mercy / Hell Awaits
King's X - Out of the Silent Planet / Gretchen Goes to Nebraska / Faith Hope Love / King's X (all 4 of these are pretty seamless in this fashion to me)
Y&T - Mean Streak / In Rock We Trust
Queensryche - Mindcrime / Empire

I'm sure I've missed several, and will be summarily ridiculed for others.

Agreed, I saw them at the Rive on the Rage for Order tour in like 86/87 and they blew me away.( I know you are all happy for me...)

I saw Queensryche open for Metallica in '89 in Peoria on the "Damaged Justice" tour. Great live band that won over a rabid Metallica crowd. And damn does that Geoff Tate have some pipes on him.

I always considered Operation Mindcrime "The Wall" of metal.

Doug's avatar reminded me that Slipknot's Iowa/Vol. 3 were 2 pretty solid back to back albums.

Couple more I thought of:

1.Trivium: The Acendency/The Crusade
2.White Zombie: La Sexorcisto/Astro Creep 2000
3.Ozzy: Diary Of A Madman/Speak Of The Devil

iowa and volume 3? interesting... i think iowa is their weakest album.

lamb of god: ashes of the wake/sacrament.
nerd: fly or die/seeing sounds.

I know many Slipknot fans who share your sentiment on Iowa. I dunno, there are 4-5 songs I love on it.

Great call on Lamb Of God though.

Rush's "Permanent Waves" album marked the beginning of the end for the Canadian power trio. Are you serious? "Invisible airwaves... crackle with life. Bright antennae bristle with the energy." What cheeseball, commercial sellout, fecal remnant is that? When Rush was a garage band with a soul, they produced some terrific music. Only when they succeeded did they fail.
As Lester Bangs said to young William Miller in "Almost Famous," "too bad you missed out on rock 'n' roll. It's over." I don't think there's a band that disappointed its early fans more than Rush did. "I will choose free will." I will choose punching the button on anything Rush did after "Hemispheres" in late '78.

Don't candy coat it Mac. While i'm not the biggest fan of anything they did after 2112, there are some real gems after. Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight.

Frank, I am among those who have little regard for what the Stones have produced in the last 30 years. I can think of only a select few ("Waiting On A Friend," "Start Me Up," "Don't Stop," "Rough Justice") after the "Some Girls" album that are Stones quality. Agree.

Mac you won't liten to Moving Pictures why ?
Tom Sawyer Sucks I will never defend it .
But ,Red Barchetta ? wow that is a powerhouse and Limelight is what you live . It talks about the stress of being in the limelight wow .Yet you like the watered down AC/Dc stuff ,interesting .
Listen to Grace under Pressures Body electic -about losing yourself and conforming and fighting to be yourself .
Sorry but I love it all it's sad they are not in the Hall of fame

'Start Me Up' sucks. Though, maybe my disdain for it is because of that horrid music video, and the fact that 29 NFL teams think its clever to play that riff at opening kickoff.

I do like 'Love is Strong' and 'Anybody Seen My Baby'

You can add Brown Sugar, Jumping Jack Flash and Honkey Tonk Woman to that list and you have 5 of the greatest songs of all time.

 Unless you just got your driver's license for the first time, this has to be a joke, right? Judging by your other posts, I gotta believe you're old enough to know better than to make this statement. Pick any 2 other albums, prior to 1992-ish, and they are better than these two. (*The mid-late 90's, not good years for U2)

Not greatest of all time by a long shot but a nice 1-2 punch is Core/Purple by
Stone Temple Pilots.
