Wow, 7 straight post season losses.

I didn't know they had a losing streak going that long in the playoffs.

Hopefully Lilly can step up tomorrow and kick some ass versus meltdown and throw his mitt on the ground.

Really.... I thought it was Lilly. I see on the Cubs website that it is indeed Zambrano. Did they change it from a few days ago?

I'd be very nervous if I was a Cubs fan now.

Nope it has been set for a few days now. Demp, Z, Harden for the first 3

Oh Hell, it just means the Cubs will not sweep the Dodgers. Zambrano goes tomorrow and I have confidence that he will get the series even. This game will just serve as a wake-up call. This game seperates the true fans from the Johnny come lately band wagon jumpers, in the crowd. I still believe without a doubt. Dempster just didn't have his command tonight.

To all the jerk-off ass-wipes that want to rub it in that the Cubs lost, it's just bad Karma to do that. It's just going to make it that much more frustrating to those people, when the Cubs turn this Big Blue Party Train around tomorrow and get it back on the tracks that lead to glory. It will happen.....

The Cubs need to get back to what made them successful this year. Take pitches, draw some walks, get on base and get some hits with runners on. Just take a step back, breathe, and play it like any other normal game.

I like "Good" Z to show up tomorrow (although based on his Sept. outings last month, i have NO clue what i have to base this opinion off of - just a feeling i got) he is gonna have 1 walk, 9 K's and go 7 strong...let's do this!

All I've seen on this thread are a bunch of Cubs fans that are overreacting, either jumping ship or jumping down the throats of perceived Sox fans. Also, Frank makes a few objective opinions and he gets slammed for it.

Relax. Steve's right. The Cubs can come back and win the series.

Jason, Frank was responding to a misplaced attack.
I can understand the angst if White Sox posters were taking pot shots, but that just hasn't been the case -- as of yet.

I was not attacking frank ,Just asking him to remove himself from a place where his previous allegiance is well known
The Sox fans have ben . iwas asking for sake of partisanship for frank to remove himself and did say I was admiring his previous restraint .

As much as there has been a good deal of well wishes from Cubs fans towards the Sox, as they rallied to qualify for the post-season. As well as a number of Sox fans being polite towards Cubs fans and expressing hopes that the two teams may meet in the WS....Deep down, the distain is still there. It's alive and well and itching to come out and play, in a lot of people. After seeing some of the comments made here tonight, I am feeling a lot less enthusiastic about wanting to see the Sox continue to win. I would hope that unless the two teams meet in the WS, that we as a city, could wish success upon the other side of town, as well as for our own team. But I am probably foolish to think that it might ever be the case. I feel like wanting the best not only for the Cubs, but for the Sox and their fans is the right thing. That cheering for their demise would be the wrong thing. I know right from wrong....wrong is the FUN one..

Another bullshit team bound to get swept by a hot NL west club. What a waste of time.

A couple of weeks ago, I was bitching on this forum because a Cubs pitcher did something inexplicable: he got ahead 0-2, and threw three consecutive high fastballs. It was Kerry Wood, and it cost the Cubs a game when the guy ended up walking.

Last night, inexplicably, the Cubs decided that this strategy was a good idea once more. Once more, the guy ended up walking, enabling a predictable grand slam. So, so stupid.

I say the Lou should have Zambrano punch Soriano in the face every time he swings at a pitch that's way low and outside.

I PREDICT!

Zambrano will have a great game, but the offense will be unable to score while he is in the game. The bullpen blows this one. Cubs lose 3-2.

The loss last night definately hurt and you can tell that the atmostphere is starting to have an effect on the team because the fans are just waiting for something bad to happen. All that being said I think the cubs jump on Billingsly early and hold on to win 6 to 2......Don't hit the Panic button quite yet.

By the way...

The ump behind the plate was atrocious. He should be fired today.

And DP Lee? You fucktard Lee-lovers can kiss my hairy white ass. That fuck GIDP's every chance he gets. Going into the off-season (and let's face it, that's probably what we're talking about now), the Cubs need to address their utter lack of power. A 3-hitter that grounds into double plays more often than he hits home runs is not a good strategy.

Dodgers will be shut out tonight. Young players in their first postseason will be unfocused after winning game 1 of a series on the road. They will think they have already achieved their goal of stealing a game on the road.

That makes sense gd, but the Dodgers have this old, bald guy in the dugout who has been to the playoffs before once or twice, and should be able to let his young players know that the goal is winning the series, not just one mere game on the road.

Exactly. Just observations...and as I stated I did not watch the entire game.

As far as the Sox vs. the Rays, overall they did not do that well. But of the entire playoff field (both AL and NL), they were the only team to win a series at Tropicana Field.

Anyone know where you'd find a stat for grand slams surrendered by a staff? I have to think the Cubs are up there.

Great, Z in game 2 and all ready to implode at the first call he doesn’t get. This team needs to realize that it doesn’t matter if the brewers lose now, they have to win. Soriano has now decided to forget the patience he had shown at the plate the last two months of the season, Dempster shit himself last night and DP-Lee showed why he is the most overrated player in MLB. If he is not going to hit 30+ HR’s, his type of player is a dime a dozen. Here is an idea, trade his DP’s and weak groundouts and go all out for Texeria, that would be the smart thing to do.

I hope whomever buys this team is the biggest asshole this world has seen and wants a team full of people just like him. Winners and ass-holes is better then losers and cuddly, wuddly choke fucks. Also, get the hell out of that shit hole Wrigley, build a real stadium and move their choking ass out of there.

If they extend this series to 4 games I will be shocked at this point. The dodgers are a sweep waiting to happen and the cubs give them the first game, great! I fucking guarantee that Z is out by the 4th inning. Only way they win tonight is if someone has a 5-5 night with 5 rbi’s, if not, its over in 3.

I swear to god, if the person who buys this team tries to sell this whole Wrigley thing, I am done with them, because like I said, I rather have a bunch of complete ass-holes on the team that dominate and win, then a bunch of chokers who get upset when the fans boo. Hey DP-Lee, they boo because they are tired of seeing you hit into a dp every fucking at bat or maybe tired of seeing bullpen give up run after run or maybe after 100 years of not having at least one mother fucking world series, yea, we shouldn’t boo. Pussy! I tell ya one thing, i have tickets tonight and every time that giant #25 comes up to bat, I am booing his big, dumb looking ass, he can shut me up by actually getting a clutch hit.

I shouldnt be surprised, Lou's team except for the reds, when making the playoffs are one and done for the most part, hope is son of a bitch I guess. I hope these girls make me look like a complete dumbass and come back and take the series, but after watching them last night, I dont think its going to happen.

Oh! I almost forgot, someone fire santo, he needs to go also.

The umpire certainly didn't decide this game so please don't let yourself think that's what I am getting at. I did want to add on Matt's point about that home plate ump. He was just awful for both pitchers. So unbelievably inconsistent on what was a strike. THere were times with both Lowe and Dempster could throw a strike outside nd pretty low that he'd call a strike. Both of them then to their credit would throw it there again and the ump would call it a ball. I mean the exact same spot. It was just wildly inconsistent and you could really see Lowe getting agitated about it.

nope sorry try again. It's over. Zambrano hasn't been right since exceeding his pitch count in the no-hitter. The pitching staff is what needs to get better, not the offense. They're relying on a mental midget, a pitcher who hasn't thrown over 200 innings since 2003, a career .500 pitcher in the AL, a walking injury and a guy who hasn't been on a playoff roster in 3 years. There's your five regular season starters. No surprise they go down quietly to the Dodgers.
