And DP Lee? You fucktard Lee-lovers can kiss my hairy white ass. That fuck GIDP's every chance he gets. Going into the off-season (and let's face it, that's probably what we're talking about now), the Cubs need to address their utter lack of power. A 3-hitter that grounds into double plays more often than he hits home runs is not a good strategy.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Find a team to trade Lee to and then sign Texiera (sp?) to play first. You don't lose much defense, you gain more power, plus he's a switch hitter.

finding a team to trade Lee to will not be a problem if that's what you really want to do...

Really? Think there's a ton of demand for 33-year-old first basemen with more GIDP's than HR's, and earning $13 mildo a year for three more years?

Uh...yes, when the 33-year old first baseman is Derrick Lee. If they chose to do that (and I don't think they will but who knows) they would have a pretty good line of prospects or good major leaguers to choose from.

I understand that fans are often uninformed, and will vote players into the All-Star game based on reputation, but I have a hard time believing major league GM's are so foolish.

I think you're failing to recognize how much money $13 million per year is. I don't see too many teams paying singles hitters $13 million.

he may also be the best defensive first baseman in both leagues. I'm not looking at this as a fan, but general managers are often fans or reflections of their owners, who certainly are fans. D-Lee would be a valuable commodity were he to be put up for trade. Betcha the Yanks would want him, for starters. There's no point to continuing this argument, since neither of us believes Lee will be traded.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but Mark Teixeira will likely re-sign with the Anaheim Angels, or stay in the American League for the rest of his career.

Mark will go where the money is. Might be Anehiem, might be elsewhere...

Best defensive first baseman is like hottest looking midget. It doesn't matter. You need offensive production from the position. It's the sine qua non in 1st base play. Defense is a bonus.

fair enough...I think he has some very good offensive years in front of him...we'll see.

Awesome response. Have a great day. Enjoy being down 0-1.

I realize this is yesterday's news and tonight's game is a mere three hours away, but two thoughts for you.
One, did you expect to be lauded with praise for your brilliant observation that it was louder at the cell last night? I mean, the Cubs are getting killed and looking bad doing it and you expect a calm reasonable "Why yes, you're quite right. It is the oddest thing, isn't it?"
Gimmie a fucking break.
Two, enjoy it yourself. Perhaps we'll be down 2 games after tonight or maybe Z will have that operation before the game to remove his head from his ass. Who knows. But don't worry about the Cubs and their fans. You've got your own fish to fry.

Things are even worse than originally feared! I was listening to Mully and Hanley this morning, and they were in agreement that things are very hopeless right now! The may as well forfeit the rest of the series, since clearly it is over! The Dodgers are hands-down the best team ever to play baseball! To think Zambrano and the Cubs can win tonight is dreaming!

Bench Lee! Bench Fukudome! Bench Soriano, he is clearly to blame for this disaster! Bench Samardzija and never pitch him again, he is terrible! Dempster is a horrible pitcher, and an overall bad person who is going to hell for all of those walks! He should never have been starting game 1! Lilly should be pitching every 2nd game, since he is pitching the best of anyone in the rotation! Now we may never see him pitch! This is a disaster of epic proportions, that is what Mully and Hanley told me, and they are right! These odds are almost as impossible as a team winning 3 straight elimination games to get in the playoffs, unimaginable! Now the Cubs have to win 3 of the next 4 games, against a phenomenal team! AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

IT IS HOPELESS!

PANIC! PANIC! PANIC!

THERE IS NO HOPE! PREPARE FOR END OF DAYS!

Alright, who is out there for game 2? We keeping the same thread? Anybody else out there
drinking at all? Big game tonight. Going to be a little chilly. Not sure if that favors us or not.

Weather won't matter. Hope they win. It'll be tough to be two down and having to go to LA. Getting nervous...

Angus, I was pretty jumpy all day but now I have 3 Leinies Oktoberfest under my belt
after my volleyball game and I am ready to rock. Should be a great game. My sister
in law was at the game last night and was really dissapointed with the crowd. Sounded
like everyone sold their tickets and it was a bunch of stiffs in the stands. They need
to get the crowd into it early if possible.

Manny got a little chippy and Z served him some high cheese. Nice start but a long
way to go. I am surprised no one else is out here. PANIC must have scared everyone
off.

He hit 97 that I saw on the gun, and looked good. The crowd seems to be way more into this game already.

Good point RV. Have to keep him dialed back a bit. I am sure his adrenaline is off the charts.
NO breaking bats over the knee tonight I hope. There goes Soriano. Nice start

The "meat" of the order is rotten of late. Nice to see Soriano out there on the bases
and aggressive but it is going to take some timely hitting to knock some runs in.
