How was the fucking??
Probably not as good as when Lady Mary fucked a Turk to death.
I hope I'm not ruining the movie for everyone but the story is based around that oldest dowager having nailed some Frenchie back in the day and him gifting her an estate on the Mediterranean. The family takes a trip there because the Abbey is being rented for movie production, which pays for the upkeep of the aging home. Essentially the story is that the rich get much richer without having break a sweat...and people applaud this shit? Meanwhile the working folks all seem to be living in a state of semi serfdom at downton, with no hope for upward mobility for themselves or their families...but they seem to be in a state of bliss.
Midget would have a field day analyzing this
I'm not sure the lives of the lords and ladies are as idyllic as you make it sound. Sure, they dress for dinner in nice clothes. But every person has his or her role to play within the feudal system. Lord Grantham's responsibilities to the community weigh heavy upon him.
There is a poignant moment when Lord Grantham is recuperating in bed while the women and servants are running an open house at Downton. A young boy sneaks into the Lord's bedroom and they have a frank conversation about their respective stations in life. The boy wisely opines that he would never want the life of Lord Grantham.
This is an object lesson as America embraces neo-feudalism. Would you really want to be Jeff Bezos?
