The stove thing got me thinking. Our electric griddle crapped out recently it was a Broil King and we were never a huge fan. Anybody like one they have?Presto has some good reviews but some bad ones too. Most important is even heating! can't find a good one.

As for electric/portable, I believe I have a Fagor that is not being used. I used it with regular pans but I think it is designed to cook food directly on it with no pan. I will try to find it and if I do, you are welcome to it (I think it was only used a couple of times and I recall it performing well).

I'm also looking for a griddle, but one to use with my induction stovetop. Saw a nice one at ABT by Thermador that was described as a Teppanyaki (similar to Benihana's cooking surface) but it was several hundred dollars. For that price I can probably just have a piece of steel fabricated to the exact size I need.

Flat top grills are a thing in certain circles. I worked on a flat top as a short order cook in a bar during college. Really loved it. Could have a lot going on and didn’t have to worry about anything falling through any grates

i would think an high power induction cooktop paired with a cast iron grill plate would be ideal

America's Test Kitchen did a full testing of these maybe six months ago. It was pretty thorough. Check their website.
