Someone needs to tell Fukudome that you can't hit the ball when your looking in the 1st base dugout. This is looking like a really bad 48 million spent.

Ya know, Mayor Daley was worried about "booze consumption" around the park for "clinching games".

These types of nights are what you worry about. These people are angry and drunk.

8:30 start. Most people got their at 4pm or 5pm. Some before that. Cubs go down 2-0. Gonna be ugly tonight.

TBS might have a little bit of Lou's press conference. But Comcast will show the whole thing.

I know you are angry Cubs fans. I've been there. Not too long ago. Maybe you'll want to see your manager angry with you. I think he's gonna have one of those "explosions".

Man!!! They had some PR bitch limiting the questions for Lou. She only allowed 2 or 3 questions and said "last one". Bitch!!!

Lou was ready to explode. Somebody asked about Fukudome. Lou said in an angry voice "Look, I don't want any more questions on him. He won't play anymore. The kid is struggling and there is nothing you can do."

Bitch told Lou he could go after that. One more question and he goes nuts.

Yeah Lou was not a happy camper, I wanted to see him explode. He should explode, these guys suck.

I think fans deserve to hear from their manager. Lou would have stayed. Why is this bitch rushing him out? They don't play tomorrow. He has time. What is she doing? What's her purpose? It's a post game press conference in a playoff game. Lou is suppose to answer quetions. He's sat longer during regular season games. He's 65 years old. He can handle it. He can leave when he wants to leave. Why does the bitch rush him away?

It's sad how they just absolutely died. This team is dead. Dead as hell. No hitting, no pitching. Absolute failure.

I'm disgusted to call myself a fan sometimes. These bastards will never win a goddamn thing.

The starting pitcher can turn things on a dime. Harden can be as dominant as anyone in Baseball. Perhaps they don't pitch Lowe on Sunday, if the Cubs are down 2-1 in the series, hoping to start Lowe in game 1 of the NLCS, then the Cubs win Sunday and send it back to Wrigley, where they win the deciding game 5.

I stopped watching after it became 5-0. I don't need the stress watching this garbage. Losing by 5+ runs in two playoff games at home. Embarrasing.

Say what you will about Zambrano and emotional baggage but in the last two playoff series he is one of the few if any Cubs that showed any heart. At most he should have given up one run in that second inning. Maybe if we had a few more Zambranos the cubs would have more balls and show more fight.

In the words of Orval Tessier, this team needs a heart transplant.

And count me in as a guy who wouldn't mind see DP Lee gone next year. I think he typifies the Cubs problem, they are soft.

D Lee may suck but atleast he did put his hand up to break up a double play last night. May not of been the smartest play but he was still playing hard. AN of course the next batter hit an inning ending DP anyways.

Maybe they play hard but it appears that a number of players on this team cannot stand the limelight or the pressure of a postseason, Lee included.

Its one thing if this is your first go around in the playoffs, but the Cubs don't have this excuse. Maybe the Cubs need a few more lunatics like Zambrano or what the Red Sox had in 2004 (players with a few screws looose) because what the Cubs have right now is not cutting it.

It does not make sense that Lee cannot handle the pressure. He was one of the thorns in our side in 2003 with the Marlins, but it seems now with the Cubs uniform on he has turned into a choker.

The Cubs pretty well confirmed their fans' worst fears. Panic! wasn't panicked enough.

But on that Marlin team you had a Ivan Rodriguez, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett. These guys took the pressure off Lee. Lee wasn't the main guy.

Lee, though, is one of the main guys now.

Reminds me of Mike Morgan when he was with the Cubs. He was dynamite when he was the second guy behind Maddux, when Maddux left Morgan became the ace and he folded the next year.

Piniella has to get a good chunk of blame here too.

I honestly cannot believe this is the same team that seemed to win at will during the season. Its mind boggling.

Who is the leader -- on the field -- for the Cubs?
Z?
Lee?
Soriano?
A-Ram?

Lou gets a HUGE chunk of the blame, IMO.

What was the biggest complaint from Cubs fans about Dusty during the collapse of '03? That he just sat there and watched as it was happening. So -

WTF IS LOU DOING???? Get Dempster out in game 1 - manage the way you manged for the entire season!

After each infielder takes his turn with an error in game 2, get up off your ass, go to the mound, call in the entire infield - and wake their asses up! You want the damn crowd to get fired up and support this team? That would do the GD trick! That place would go apeshit after that - maybe that could spark something.

Or - just sit there, contemplating the ratio of Gin/Tonic in your drink after the game.

No - it's Soto. Whether he wants it or has earned it, it's on him. And he can't throw the god damn ball back to the pitcher correctly, so he has to run out to get the damn resin bag for no apparent reason.....

DPLee actually batted under 200 in that series, he had a big hit in one of those games, but DPLee has never batter over 230 in a playoff series.

I dont care how nice of a guy he is suppose to be, thats great, but he is a weak link on the field, he has proven he cant handle it, get him out and get someone who can.

Well if they were playing tight, perhaps getting out of Chicago for a few games will loosen them up? Now that they are expected to lose and have no shot the pressure transfers to the Dodgers. For fuck's sake I'm reaching for straws here, but dammit they have a good team, and the best chance of any Cubs team that I can remember, to win the Series.

If by some miracle they were to win on saturday, I like the fact that Lilly will go on Sunday, but I dont see them winning saturday. I hope so, but I am not going to watch them, they dont deserve my time, sounds like a meatball thing to say, but its just the way it is.

If Jim Hendry has a "to do" list, I hope it says this.

1. Trade Lee
2. Sign R. Johnson, R. Dempster
3. Work on a buy-out on fukudomes contract
4. Tell Lou that DeRosa is the rf'er and Fontentot (or get brian roberts) is the 2nd baseman.
5. Inform Soriano he is will be batting 5th next year
6. Target a top line starter
7. Bullpen help

This team can win again next year, but they do have holes. I also wouldnt be against getting a SS and moving theriot to 2nd again if they cant get ROberts.

The one starting pitcher I would love for them to target is John Lackey who is a free agent, that rounds out the staff pretty well. If they trade Lee and I know people will call me stupid on this one, I would go all out for Adam Dunn and put him at first, he has played it before and while you lose on defense, he for sure makes up for it with his offense and if they can top it off with adding ROberts, that would be great. yes, its a pipe dream and i havent even covered the bullpen, but there is never really pitchers out there as a sure thing when it comes to the bullpen anyway.

bill simmons wrote something like that in his piece about manny. that manny was the true "idiot" and thats exactly the kind of guys they needed. guys who are more into their beards and taking shots before games then what the fenway faithful or boston globe might write if they lose.

i think theres something to this. obviously these cub players feel the pressure in the playoffs. maybe you need some "idiots" like 04 red sox

but on the other hand schilling had a big hand in that run and he is the exact opposite of the so called "idiots"

guess its worth a shot. they have absolutely positively nothing to lose.

couple other things...

zambrano is the only cub the last 2 years who showed up at all in the playoffs.

d lee got real old real fast and is missing his greenies i suspect.

aramis ramirez is a core piece but cant be the guy. he acutally hit well in 03 playoffs when he was playing 3rd fiddle to alou and sosa

ryan theriot is NOT a short stop i know they won 97 games with him but his weak arm ALWAYS seems to help an opposing teams rally

i remember thinking as a kid they would have to win one eventually that was 1987. im starting to wonder if my kids or grandkids will see it

im 28 they ve made the playoffs 6 times in my life...i guess thats better than no playoff appearances for 39 years but the divisional playoffs help that so whatever i dont know.

i used to get real pissed at every cub loss...2003 slaugtered my fandom 2004 put 6 bullets in the head of the 2003 fandom carcas that was left...since then im happy if they win and just laugh when they lose...its a better way to deal with these losers for me and im glad they dont determine my mood for half the year anymore but...

FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the worst part is with the national league is on a 10 year run as the inferior league and the cubs going in with 97 wins, clinching early, everybody healthy...i dont see how they could be set up any better and still...they choke

fuck em.
