My cousin is a chef and makes essentially Robuchon potatoes. I host Thanksgiving and one by one 50 guests sat down and said these potatoes are great blah bah blah. I took credit for assigning him our mashed potatoes and now they are legendary. One year they separated and we laughed.

Vegas is weird, it's like you are on candid camera for the whole trip. Whatever is happening can't be happening.

I was just thinking for as negligent as I am in watching the NBA during the regular season, I truly enjoy the playoffs. I will be sad when they are over.

We have fun, but at its core, my group is gamblers. I pretty much drink a ton without having to drive. But best of all, my friends are all scattered now, so it is a time to get together. We have all four time zones represented this year.

People watching is fantastic. We all love sports too, so I will have money on the main games. I do not sports book gamble at home, so it is still special doing it in Vegas.

Vegas seems like it would be super lame for over 30s getting together unless everybody is kind of a super absorbed impressed with themselves asshole. The old guys look around for those crazy stories that stay in Vegas. Gross for everybody.

Freedom Fest is there this year and I kind of want to go. I think it's libertarian in nature so you might like it.

I can’t really explain it. I guess the combination of non stop drinking, watching and gambling on sports, and then playing poker or craps with my friends is still fun. We have been doing these trips twice per year for twenty plus years. It never gets old.

Normally this is the trip that we go see the Cubs play first. We picked this weekend to see the Cubs in Yankee Stadium. But with the season delayed, we just booked Vegas. We lost our Yankee trip in June 2020 too.

I was talking with my parimutual facilitator once in my earlier years. I told him I was going to LV thinking for sure a guy of his background would be a regular. He told me he had all the action he needed here and that he didn't play to lose. I see his point now as the ability to play any of the LV bets is readily available here.
