Welp, this won't be a great weekend for the Cubs. And we get to see Heyward look terrible at the plate tonight. So... I guess I'm excited to see Rizzo again kinda not really.

If Clint Frazier gets a chance somewhere and becomes a productive player it'll be part of the disastrous JHK Cubs legacy stealing AB's, then his spot from him.

great game so far.

Never knew Schwindel was from Jersey.

They interviewed his dad and shit, he has 100 people there tonight.

i think the cubs DFAed this guy yesterday. should have been let go after his brutal performance in game 1 against the brewers 2 weeks ago. shabby, uninterested play. usually down in the count 1-2 - always a heartbeat away from striking out.

wisdom and schwinnie can't go from strength to strength....fool's gold that even the most diehard cubs fan must realize. the cardinals and a host of clubs that had schwinnie knew all that. the rangers didn't even give wisdom a full year after trading for him.

This was an instant classic.

Sad that NOONE was payin' attention.

I was listenin' the whole way on the drive last night. All 13 innings.

I think only the 3rd game to go 13 innings without EITHER team scorin' since the 2020 gay ghost runner rule.

Being replayed NOW on Marquee.

Tune in! They jumped ahead to the 8th inning, so it's only getting good. Great pitching and defense.

JHK going against a lefty. Ortega & he have similar slash lines vs lefties this year. Should be interesting if he comes high & hard on him. He'll be swinging from the first base dugout he'll be bailing so much. But he is on a mini hot streak. Hope its AJP unless he's been got to to cool the opinions.

Hard to believe Rizzo has 14 HR and 39 RBI, but only is hitting .217. Thats terrible. Yet somehow they say he is having a great year.

Happ is having a GREAT year. OPS over .800, and I love the RBI total: 29
And 5 SB including one last night.

Very underrated established fuckin MLB player.

From Paul Sullivan Tribune

Hoyer said Heyward “hasn’t performed this year or last year” to the level he has wanted. But Hoyer believes Heyward provides a lot of value fans don’t see, specifically mentioning how he mentors young players and his work ethic. “I don’t think his struggles are different than any anyone else’s struggles in some ways,” Hoyer said. “So obviously, we made the decision we made regarding Clint and when it comes to Jason, we do see real value he provides on daily basis.”

Other than the fact he's on a 7-yr slump.

The beauty of the mentoring charade is the Cubs don't have many young position players on the roster. New guys are mostly rejects in their late 20s. Only young ones Morel near 23, Nico Hoerner at 25. Even less further back. Who are these imaginary young players he's mentoring?

almost too much of a japanese gentleman playing baseball in the usa. i remember the play, he stole second - the throw was to the 1st base side and you'd think he'd seen that many times, adjust your slide a bit to the outfield side of 2nd, instead - he went out of his way to avoid crashing into the reds player and awkwardly went into 2nd; as if he didn't want to initiate contact.

suzuki has been meek on the bases while contreras has been bad with not so bang-bang plays at the plate. really shocked at how poor contreras has defended. getting many more days off from catching and he wants a $100 million contract?

If Heyward was such a gentleman and leader why won't he take any instruction on his swing and stance?

that's exactly correct. hitting-wise, this season is for shits and giggles. cubs must be thinking that publicly promising to sign top free-agents would put them in a negotiating disadvantage, so, i'll reserve judgment on hoyer and co. until next season. hopefully morel goes from strength to strength and some of the pitchers get sharper and wiser. starting to have doubts that hoerner will be an above average MLB player.

in the meantime, i'm guessing you'll get force-fed more spoonfuls of heyward this, wisdom that and frank the tank. that's 3 waste management trucks full of garbage.

today, we're getting all-star keegan thompson walking everyone and wisdom dropping pop-ups.

They musta skipped a couple spots in the rotation.

This is always what happens. You lose that tight extra-inning game that u had every chance to win, against a good teram, and then u get blown out the rest of the way.

When u watch the Yankees hit like this, u wonder how they have so much trouble in the playoffs every year. This team seems unbeatable.

I love the energy at Yankee Stadium too.

What a corporate bitch. Hoyer seems to have been able to stockpile some good young talent but he is also a fucking pussbag when it comes to taking orders from the family. What a steaming load of shit that statement was. No one in that clubhouse gives a fuck about Heyward's "leadership". I really want my few young players to learn the ropes from the poorest performing while also highest paid position player in the history of the organization.

"Guys, as long as you show up you get to cash your check. If you show up long enough you get to cash some really big checks. If you get hit by a pitch then play in fear the rest of your career. It also doesn't matter if you have a horse shit batting stance and approach as long as you show up with a smile everyday. Don't worry about any coaches trying to change your horse shit stance and approach because you can just tell them to piss off and then go on your merry way because no one in that organization will back them. Tomorrow's lesson is going to be on the glorious feature of direct deposit."

Is Morel a homegrown drafted player?

Why havent we heard about him until the day he came up?

All we heard about last year was Brennan Davis and these guys we got in the trades.

Why was Morel never mentioned?

Morel has been around. He was never a huge prospect. I think he was in the organization's top 10-20 range. I'm sure he will start to suck soon enough with that asshole Heyward teaching him how to be a big league piece of shit.

Think it's bad now. Wait 'til they move guys out before the trade deadline.

This is only 3rd game out of 17 in a row.(NYY, SD, ATL).

I'd keep Morel off-limits to JHK poison baseball & fake persona bs. He'll ruin him I agree.

Cubs 0 for last 40 with RISP, the longest drought since 1974. 0 for 40.

Pat Hughes the other night said the Cubs have never won a GAME in the Bronx. At least since interleague play.

This was hard for me to believe. He mentioned the 2005 series. Have we not played there since?

If true, then this winless streak will continue.

It's true, going back to World Series of 1932 and 1938.
