that part of the bill of rights is what's called precatory language: the nice, flowery, aspirational stuff that people quote in speeches on 4th of July but have little legal weight

Uh, fellas, unless I'm missing something here, the phrase "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is not included in the Bill or Rights, nor the Constitution.

I think it's solely found in the Declaration of Independence.
