As either Mike can't read or just wants to ignore, lets ask rock some questions.

1. Does Mike talk about the people on here in the same derogatory manner he does on the air?

2. When is Annes contract expiring?

3. When you guys did the Bookie priest was it Mike running around to Mitch saying he needed additional commercials? Tv Appearances?

4. I have been listening o radio for a long time and never have a I heard a host going to a location (las vegas) 2 days ahead of time to set things up? Did you agree with this? (Oh yeah, this one could get you fired)

5. Ever had any of that BC stuff?

I doubt Rock will respond, but if he did it would go something like this:

Hey y'all,

Thanks for listening to the show. Y'all will have to ask Anne about her contract, cause I don't know. Mike going to Vegas early was no biggie. If Mitch is cool with it, why do y'all care? We have to promote Bookie Priest as much as we can, cause it's the funniest bit in the history of radio. I just heard the new Rob Zombie CD, it rocks! Later y'all.
-Rock

Thanks Nas, I feel like I'm in rarefied air. The 1000 post club with the board's HOFers. Whoo-hoo!

I bow down (at a safe distance) before your accomplishments. My number is nothing, considering that I was reading/posting on this board for years now. This is probably the third or fourth incarnation. There were other setups of the website/board that Bigfan had out there.

Answers:

1. Mike does know about the boards, he doesn't read them as far as I know, but he does realize ya'll exist. By degrogatory, not too sure what you mean by that.....but it's more like a "they think they know how it works" type jargon. Really....if you were in my position, would you care what 20-30 people think about the product you put out and work your ass off for? I'm sure there are people around each of ya'll that think you don't do as good a job as you do, do you listen to them? I would hope not. You just got to move on and work for what you believe in.

2. Anne's contract is her business...the only contract I know of is the one Mike's got cause it was publicized (sp?) in the paper back when he signed it. I don't have a contract, so I wouldn't know how it works to begin with.

3. The Bookie Priest is actually bigger than you think.....in fact, I've had people I talked to at places I go to saying the love the bit and it's funny. We'll tweak some things along the line I'm sure, but it's a bit that has legs. As for the commercials.....I don't understand it, but I know one thing, when you got something hot that's different from anything else you hear on radio, you want to capitalize at the opportunity you have as quick as possible. That's the reason for the commercials. As for the TV thing yesterday, we thought it'd be funny, so we did it.

4. Mike left one day early cause he wanted to party like a rock star for one day. Did I agree with it, no.....but if they let him do it, why not go for it?

5. Not too sure what you mean by BC stuff......BC powder is the shit though after a long day/night of drinkin.

6. Rob Zombie's new disc blows.....thanks for readin the blog.

Oh my god Rock. You actually think that Bookie priest is sweeping Chicago land. It's a parody radio bit. You guys think it is so unique. It's Mike reading picks in a priest chant. No big deal. It doesn't have legs. It's the same thing every day. Twice a day from what I here. It may have been funny the first day. Most radio guys do a bit and then try and do another funny bit. Good to here that you were honest about why Pappy went to Vegas a day early. He tried to say he was setting up. For once you didn't blindly defend him.

A7X, you really did hit Rock's answers perfectly. Even after Rock read yours he still couldn't help but answer in the same manner.

One more point Rock. You say that Pappy doesn't think the 30 people on this board matter that much. A small sample I agree, but that's because not alot of people know about the board. More people think he is a joke then the 400 registered on this board. Yet you say that you've heard a few people at bars say they love Bookie priest and you deduce that it is a huge pulp culture thing. How does that work? Better get started working on Monday's Bookie Priest. Here I'll help you since its the same everyday.

Jesus...son of the father...likes the Bulls minus the 7...aaaaaamen.

Oh wow Rock that's genius. You guys should play it 5 times a day.

I like the bookie priest. I also appreciate Rock taking the time to post here. I don't necessarily agree with him but the guy obviously cares about his product.

I don't mind the Bookie Priest yet, but that's probably because I don't listen for long stretches every day, and miss it more often than not

The 1000+ visits a day must be the 30 or 40 logging in 25 times a day, and the 400 regsistered users must the 30, with the 100 that 20 or more posts must be the other 10.

Rock, as you know this is not even close to my real job, so whatever happens here happens, If there was 5 people posting it would be fine, as liong was A7X....the man has an edge, gotta like that.

Hey, tell Mike to make me an offewr to buy the site, lol

I actually did sell a domain name to one of your advertisers, VEGASEDGE.com, so I guess I am partially responisble for the Sunday Morning Football Pick cons.

Rock,

You can't have it both ways. One one hand you say re: Bookie Priest" " I've had people I talked to at places I go to saying the love the bit and it's funny." Then you discount the opinions of the "20-30 people" on this board.

Unless you're talking to an awful lot of people I'm sure you can see the dichotomy of accepting a small opinion sample because they agree with you & rejecting a roughly equivalent sample because they don't.

As to the traffic on this board, don't fall into the classic trap of underestimating your "opposition" just because there are only a few people posting. Based on traffic reports from my FTP hosting service, unique page visits to this site have increased by an order of magnitude in less than 2 months and that traffic is being drawn from an increasingly diverse internet population (there are two other radio boards & one MLB forum represented in my traffic analysis :-)).

Here's a graphical representation in deference to Mikey :-)

Image

and if you're looking for a number to toss around I expect individual hits, just in March, to pass the 100,000 mark in the next day or so. Even after factoring out repeat hits (I get very detailed reports) It still leaves approximately 1,700 unique IP addresses accessing these forums.

I don't expect Mikey to "get it" but you should Rock. You can ignore/dismiss/ridicule the net only so long however eventually the score in general & Mikey in particular, is going to have to get used to the idea that there are a LOT of potential listeners/critics/fans in cyberspace & they have wallets too.

Just ask James Frey :-)

I once heard a great flim flam man - I mean a great wise man - say that taking a small sample of people and extrapolating it to equal a larger number is a Flawed Ratings System; so which is it Rock? Can we or can we not use it for Arbitron? Bookie Priest? Score670.com? I'm so confused. Welcome Back Kotter out.

My assumption of 20-30 people is strictly based of who actually does sign on and post. You could show me all the stats in the world about how many hits this site gets....but I can only tell you what I see. 1,000,000 people could be going to the site and look around, but if only 20 people sign on and voice their opinion, how big does the site really feel? And plus....from looking at the graph you provided....I don't understand why such a large jump in "hits" to the site. Are you saying that just the last 2 months have made this site....cause according to the graph....it looks like no one visited this site from last April to this past Feb. I'm not wanting to argue with your info because I'm sure it's accuarate.....but if a casual person just looked around this site, and only saw the same 20-30 people posting.....what would that person think about the site? Just my opinion based on the info you provided.

You're right....the net is full of potential listeners/clients/etc.....that's one reason why the station is now streaming.....personally I think our station should start podcasting, gotta grab on to the new technology and use it to the fullest extent. You're absolutely on target with that.

And as for our ratings....they're fine. We finished fourth in the market in the 25-54 demo last book. Sure, you only really see the 12+/18+ numbers in the publications (newspaper/r&r.com/etc...), but we're doing just fine, and everyone at the station is extremely happy with how the show has performed. Hard work does pay off sometimes guys.

And can I just say one more thing....if you're going to get some body art/piercings like I did this past weekend.....Don't make the same mistake I made and make sure you're "artist" is at least sober. What an experience it was this past weekend.

I'm out.....
-Rock

Actually, Rock, I think those hits are just the ones from his FTP site, meaning the sports babes section. It was just a bunch of random posts until a few months ago, when cooler made it his calling in life to provide a home for unknown international chick athletes.

The graph doesn't seem to help his other argument, though, despite it being quite valid. If 30 of us say a bit is tired and used up, are you honestly hearing from 30+ people at various remotes & events suggesting that the bit is gold? I'm not calling you a liar, I'll take what you say for what it's worth, but just wanted to clarify what I thought cooler was trying to say.

What kind of piercings Rock? Prince Albert? Can you elaborate on why the new Rob Zombie sucks? What new shit out there is good?

Rock,

First thanks for responding.

Now before I get to the numbers I have to ask a semi-rhetorical question... you said "My assumption of 20-30 people is strictly based of who actually does sign on and post. You could show me all the stats in the world about how many hits this site gets....but I can only tell you what I see."

Do you follow the same line of reasoning with regards to your listeners? Since presumedly only a tiny fraction call/email/voicemail the show do you assume that they are the sum total of your audience?

The obvious answer is no & you shouldn't make the same mistake wrt this, or any, internet blog/forum/discussion board.

Now as far as the numbers in the above graph. They represent the increase in hits to my FTP, from score670.com, as a result off the revived "Sports Babes" forum. They are not indicative of total traffic to this site. The only person who can provide that sort of info is bigfan. He owns the place, I just hang out here to serve as a bad example to the rest of the forumites.

The spikes you see are because February is when I started posting additional photos. Traffic previous to that has nothing to do with this site & was included only to show how much traffic has increased over normal levels.

Rock always seems to conveinently miss the good points that are brought up here. The issue isn't about how many people bitch about North here. It's that Rock seems to put alot of stock in the 10 people that say Bookie priest is the greatest thing in radio but dismisses the 30 people who correctly say that the show sucks. He can't have it both ways.

You can spin the numbers any way you want Rock. Bottom line is you are still basically tied with MIke and Mike and there is 2 million dollars dumped into the show. the stations ahead of you and behind you probrally don't have that kind of overhead. Murph and Fred did the same numbers with probrally 200 grand invested in the show. If that.

Actually taa I do & if not I expect that Rock has the brains to ask for a further explanation because what I'm talking about are the same principles upon which he bases his claim...

"And as for our ratings....they're fine. We finished fourth in the market in the 25-54 demo last book. When was the last time ol' Pappy worked hard at anything radio related? He's the poster child for phoning it in. Don't let your blind loyalty obscure the truth.

What kind of dope gets a tat or a piercing from a drunk? As someone with a fair amount of ink tattooed on his skin, I know tattoos are like minor surgery and should be done in a sterile setting by a lucid professional. Your tattoo/piercing experience shows a similar level of bad judgment as your loyalty to your employer. You should be ashamed of your self for letting that happen, and even more ashamed for admitting it.
