When you have Schwisdom in the middle of the order you're never that bad.

This team sucks. They are due for another 3-12 type streak.

Sutcliffe praising Wisdom for dropping his SO% from 40% in '21 to 34% in '22.

The MLB lady writer described Leiter Jr's outing as "solid" (5 in, 4 er, 3 hr).

M & H today saying there's a Cubs buzz with the winning of a few series recently.

As of a few days ago Ross was planting the Heyward serious knee injury excuse card seed. Odd no imaging done yet though.

There's no way the Dodgers go into the playoffs with Kimbrel as their closer.

People can say that Heyward doesn't matter but they have played much better ball since his dead ass was put on the shelf with the BS knee injury. His presence in the lineup turns everything to shit.

I have not heard anything about how his injury is doing, rehabs, treatments, diagnosis, expected return... nothing. Why not just dfa him if you're gonna leave him on the injury list for months with made up shit?

How befitting for Heyward's injury to be a mystery just like the work on his perpetual mechanically defective swing, who and what are the results of his mentoring, and specifics of his role in his much publicized Mother Teresa like charity work.

agreed. i hope they are all 3-2 losses, with good pitching and morel & hoerner hitting. hard to come up with a worse combo of players at 1B (schwinnie and rivas) and 3rd base (wisdom & bote). was never a fan of madrigal...hope they trade happ, contreras and robertson.

They are not wretched. Their starting pitching has been decimated by injury. Suzuki, Wisdom, Hoerner, Gomes, Madrigal would make a league-average 5-9 in the batting order. And Morel looks like a serviceable multi-year piece who can bat leadoff or 9th depending on the matchup but is best suited being the 10th man and playing 4-5x/week.

But they need three more hitters for the 2-4. A quality 1B, a quality LF, and either a quality CF or SS/3B, not all RH hitters Personally, I'd go for Boegarts, who grew up watching WGN on satellite. He is probably the first of the shortstop FAs move to 3B but that's ok because Wisdom will not be good value once he hits arbitration.

True that. I have seen detailed injury/rehab updates on everyone else and the reports are every other day. This is like when they sat his ass for Covid for 3 weeks when he was fine and on the bench. He will be out of sight until he either cries about it like last time or a timely injury occurs.

They'll trot him back out at the All-Star Break so they can send Velasquez back to AAA to get some regular playing time until the trade deadline. I expect that they will trade either Happ or Ortega, and then they can bring Velasquez back.

what could they get back for ortega?

the cubs made sure the whole world and the next 3 galaxies found out that hendricks' mri was clean.

Ortega would be a good bench bat for a few teams. You'd basically get back a high A outfielder who doesn't need to go on the 40 man for a couple of years. A guy who might profile like Morel by 2024. Personally, I'd keep Ortega and trade Happ, since Ortega isn't even arbitration eligible next year.

I'm fine with Ortega and Madrigal in a quasi-platoon spread across CF/2B for the rest of the year, with Morel playing every day at whichever position is open. I don't need to see Simmons or Bote starting at 2B once Madrigal comes back.

I like Happ but his stock is so high now and his price is going to exceed his value sooner than later. There is no shortage at all of OF prospects. They have a ton of them and while it would suck now its the best for the future to turn him into prospects in positions of need. Davis and PCA are going to be 2/3 of the next playoff team OF and that isn't even counting Morel. Then you have Cassie and Alcantara and Canario who will be knocking on the door within the next few years. Canario is 1 call away and the other two are fast tracking their way through the system.

While a total rebuild after a WS with a young core is ridiculous.....when they all get here they are going to be pretty damn good. I haven't even mentioned Christian Hernandez. He is as elite of a prospect as it gets. Just started in the AZL this year so most don't know who he is....but they will.
