the hated mets in town. not much of a rivalry now a days.

still don't like the mets nor their tough-guy manager. see if the cubbies can give a good account themselves, i think the mets will paper-cut them to death.

Lindor owed big money through '31 with a Mets .741 ops. McCann '24 .625. Hope Jed is taking note. A lot of MLB players are tanking after big contracts.

Unfortunately it's the rule rather than the exception.

Boog's disdain for the cycle I'm guessing is because it conflicts with his kowtowing to his data god. Keep in mind he's the same guy who equates moderately high exit velo making an out as productivity.

Exactly.

What a fuckin moron arguing about cycle vs some other combo of hits.

getting pantsed by the mets - mets aren't allowed to dip after a key road series win in atlanta, cubs are that bad.

the june-swoon cubs of the mid-late 70's, at least they'd hit and be above .500 at wrigley. these guys are a sorry collection. cubs will be 13 games under .500 at wrigley.

keegan thompson was hit so hard by the mets that the cubs' booth all thought that the mets might be getting tipped on pitches. he throws at the max a 94 mph fastball? if so, you better work on your other stuff too.

Since the 3rd inning of Sunday’s game vs the Dodgers, the Cubs have been outscored 29-4.

cubs shut out, now tied with the reds. the reds proved this is a marathon, not a sprint.

more rivas, ortega, simmons, bote, heyward and gomes. schwinnie coming back soon.

he's the gentleman. he didn't want to run into the reds' infielder reynolds (i believe) on a SB attempt. in full stride, had to change directions and slid into 2nd from an angle that he probably never slid before. the opponent made him change his route to 2nd. that was the game the reds got 20 runs, i think. justin steele rocked, after getting staked to a 3-0 lead.

i'd keep him, morel and hoerner and get something for the other value left - happ, contreras...robertson.

If the Cubs lose 100 this year and next Ross would be 90 games under .500 as a MLB manager. Sooner or later the Nagy Jr "our culture & effort is great though" positive bs act will start faltering and some honest thoughts will surface.

this was before a cubs x mets game in 1977. some of these hall of famers introduced were born before 1890. God bless all of them. bob feller was only 58, he was trying.

They were talking on MLB radio that the only 200 mil contract position player to win a world series with the team signed with was A-Rod.

Wow!, unbelievable.

Ottavino escapes with man on 3rd and no out.

Wonder how many times that's happened in this gay extra inning era.

i'd guess more than a few times with the cubbies.

ottavino didn't have the most difficult escape path - wisdom, p.j. higgins and if all went right, morel with 2 outs. these losers can't get a fly ball or productive out when needed. nothing clutch from the 2 all-stars, happ and contreras. nothing clutch from losers wisdom and ortega. i'll give p j higgins a pass, for now. part-time 1B for the mets makes a game-saving scoop that schwinnie can only make in his dreams.

i hope mad max has no-hit stuff later, want to see these losers get their faces rubbed in it. we'll prob see gomes catch in game 2, another cub who can't hit to save his life. rivas, cue up the mariachis.

cubs, -14 games under at home, one mad max game away from being tied with the reds for the 2nd worst record in the NL.

in this case it was a great diving play by the Mets 3B and also by the 1Bman to pick the low throw.

Amazing clutch play from a good team.

Going for a nine-game losing streak, following a 10-game losing streak in June.

Looking at the 2nd game highlights. Norris is a huge tanking asset late game. Tossed the ball into CF on a pickoff attempt in the 10th.

Schwindel loafing running to 1st on 2nd game ending dp.

FF the 1st game's post game for ZZ bloopers and Ross standup act press conference. Ross is still upbeat accentuating any positives he can grab onto. Spiegel in for ZZ saying the future is extremely bright with recent MILB promotions overshadowing Cubs losses. There actually is a sponsorred call-in segment with no phones calls. Spiegel lied through his teeth saying no phone calls today cuz of doubleheader.

On pace for 102 losses. And this is before the trade deadline fire sale.

cubs didn't lay down for scherzer, but the usually deficiencies did them in. ortega couldn't catch a ball for an unearned run and the cubs had a man on 3rd with 1 out - more than once, and couldn't get him in. no focus when needed while batting in clutch situations. cubs pitchers only gave up 1 earned run in game 2 and lose 4-3 in 10 innings. the situational hitting is brutal.

frustration setting in...ross getting tossed every game now, all-star happ yesterday. ortega wants to fight mcneil. maybe happ thinks he deserves more respect at the plate, as an all-star. scherzer gets more pull on borderline pitches. HOF vs borderline all-star. scherzer is an ass, but, he will get the calls more times than not.

i agree, all this mess, before they get rid of their 'all-stars' and robertson. could lose 105-108 games.

draft is today, let's see who the cubs take at #7. you know the radio friends of the program will hype whomever it is.

Ross' "Shangri-La" tone is starting to crack. 2nd game postgame press conference he was talking all over the place. Off the leadership jag. Now on effort, character bs. Praising millionaires who sit around for 3 hours giving "effort" who never worked a day in their lives. Then, throws Cubs inferior roster under the bus for not quitting against a superior 300 mil roster. BS-ers are great listens when the house of cards collapses and excuses are wearing thin. There has to be conflict with Jed on the tanking timeframe I'd guess how his real disgust is showing. Good stuff! He'll be in a rubber room wearing a straight jacket soon with this team of bums.

just in time for the cubs...seems as though 3 or 4 of the top 5 free agents next season will be shortstops. the position that hoerner is blossoming in to.

got to be tough for ross, while hoyer doesn't want to tip his hand dealing with agents. i do believe the cubs will upgrade the roster next season. the restlessness may turn to apathy, if it already hasn't.

the home record is pathetic and a tell-tale sign of the crap on the roster. the reds have a better trading chip (castillo) than anything the cubs have - despite 2 all-star field players.
