dumb illinois for collecting tolls at all but aside from that, the system BLAGOEVICH installed is still going strong after all these years and seems to work well these days. it was shit in the beginning but after 15 years or whatever it's better now.

one thing i want to know. if my TRANSponder doesn't work, is in the glovebox, or LOST, and the system just snaps a pic of my plates... does it still auto deduct from my account? It says i can pay online, but when i log in i dont see any INFRACTIONS or whatever. but also it's stupid that it takes like 5 days for any CROSSING to show up. And if the TRANSponder isn't needed why do we have them. and WHY ARENT THE BATTERIES REPLACEABLE

So it does take a photo of your plate, and if it matches what's on an account its ddeducted. However, a couple years ago they added extra fees if your transponder doesn't deduct the tolls. The first 3 or 5 don't cost extra but anything beyond that is a surcharge.
As far as batteries, mine has a expiration date on it. They intend to simply replace them every so many years but mine expired in 21 and they've not sent me a new one. It still works though.

thats what i was looking for. of course they charge more if their precious transponder doesnt work. fuck illinois man. i was in west dundee yesterday and wanted to swallow thumbtacks.

what if the TRANSponder works but it's stolen out of a car from jewel's parking lot and then the system has a mismatch between your plates and the TRANSponder? does the system have a preference or does it just shit anywhere it wants?

Just received an email saying my transponder needed to be exchanged, but only after I went into the system to print up a letter saying I could exchange it. You would think if I received an email saying my transponder needed to be exchanged it would be in the electronic file, but whatever.

You can exchange/buy IPASS transponders at most Customer Services counters at The Jewels.

when mine expired, it said to go ONLINE and do everything, DONT CALL ANYONE because they hate calling.

ONLINE it said "you must deactivate any expired TRANSponders." but it wouldn't let me. The HELP section said to claim it as LOST and then you can request a new one. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT PLUS WHY $15 OR WHATEVER JUST LET ME CHANGE THE MOTHER FUCKING BATTERY

i had an "expired" transponder that was still working, i finally did swap it for a new one but i ended up having to call the tollway CS to delete the old one from my account because their website wasnt letting me. The CS rep i talked to couldnt comprehend the fact that an expired transpired still worked no matter how i explained it to her.

Mine worked two years past the expiration date as well. What was not working and is still not working with my new transponder is auto replenish. No matter how many times I set it up on the get i pass site, it never reloads. And I hate calling those dopes.

As a 30+ year veteran driver of the Illinois Toll Roads (I vividly remember the cluster that was the Deerfield Road Toll Plaza) I can assure you that the toll booth attendants were neither friendly, smiley, nor hard-working.
