Not even close.

But last night’s episode was better than they had been doing.

Really curious where they go from here

I think the best of Breaking Bad (the last couple of seasons) are superior to BCS. However, I think BCS has been better overall.

I agree with this. The character development in BCS is better, but the overall premise of BB was better. The shows kind of have different vibes between the 2 of them.

I lean BB but I think the Sopranos is superior to both. I think the Sopranos had characters while in many cases BB had caricatures. If you look at Gus in BB - he's almost flawless. He's the same menacing figure in nearly all his scenes. The Sopranos characters were more multi-dimensional. The Sopranos guys were equally evil but not superhumanly menacing like some of the guys in BB. They also said things like "This alteration you had with him. You're at the precipice, Tony, of an enormous crossroads." You could see them as regular guys who happened to be mobsters. In BB some of these dudes were just out of this world even though they were supposed to be regular dudes.

I completely agree with you about the Sopranos. There are definitely more layers to their characters.

After Kim microaggressed the wrong black guy in Fring’s house, the show fell off a cliff. Now we’re left with 5 episodes to see Kim move to Omaha, Saul redesign his office and maybe we’ll get a cameo from a young Walt Jr.

Gus' out-of-nowhere agility and marksmanship (in the dark, no less) was also annoying. And this is after Lalo took out multiple guys in three seconds to get to Gus.

Not to mention a deluxe version of the talking villain trope.

A previous version of the script reportedly had Gus joining Lalo for a last meal at Los Hermanos while Lalo held him at gunpoint.

The Sopranos stretched out longer than it should have...they clearly milked it and there was more "fillter" episodes. I think the Sopranos SHOULD have been better, but they kind of blew it.
I'm putting The Wire over the Sopranos anyway.

There's only been one perfect TV show: The Leftovers.

The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and Justified are in a tier all their own. I love each of them and I dont think any other shows come close to them.

It raises a lot of religious and metaphysical questions but in the end turns out to be a love story between two people damaged by a world-changing event. I like that it didn't answer every single question. It didn't need to.

The Shield stuck the landing better than any show I’ve seen in the last 25 years.

Lalo was the best original BCS character and his storyline ended terribly.

Tonight’s episode was very disappointing.

I was upset we didn’t get more office renovation scenes.

i liked the transition from kim/jimmy to full on saul. but they really stretched this story out. i don't buy that she would just give up being a lawyer because of the recent events. i would've bought her leaving jimmy way before she actually made the decision.

the gus scene at the restaurant was unnecessary. gus being alone is vital to his survival, and getting that moment of vulnerability due to a bottle of wine just doesn't seem believable. i would've just written him as a teetotaler. he seems the type that wouldn't want to indulge in something that would have him lose control, being the control freak he is. it's a well acted scene for an actor who could've played a different character to play it out. but it just wasn't very gus to me.

Have you tried the 2018 Château Pichon Longueville Lalande?

I guess I was disappointed it wasn't so much a transition as a flashforward. We all know where Saul ended up so it was kind of unnecessary to show him in his gaudy mansion. A colleague and I were debating whether that scene takes place before Saul meets Walt and Jesse, or if it's some time after Walt enriched Saul. I assume the opening scene of the season (where his house was being foreclosed on) was post BB. It doesn't really matter other to establish whether Saul made that much money from his other seedy clients or mostly from Walt and Jesse.

Rumor has it Walt and Jesse make an appearance next week.

Yeah but I'm not sure there are enough drug users and small time criminals in a city like Albuquerque to fund that...whereas his cut of Walt's revenue was in the millions by the end.

Wasn’t the implication in BB that he was Gus’ guy? I’d assume that’s where his money came from more so than Walt.

Either way, that episode was horrible.

I see what you are saying but I thought it was perfect. He wanted to throw the switch and celebrate what he’d done and then he shifted gears and got control of himself. His eyes when he talks to his friend are perfect. He’s thrown for 5 minutes and then he locks back into his mission.

I think it's the day he meets Badger, which means the first day he appears on BB. I think that way because he took a call wherein he expressed annoyance with having another public indecency case, and as we know that's what he thought Badger was accused of when we first see Saul in BB.

With three episodes to go, they’ve traded Lalo for an old lady and her incel son.

Is this episode even worth watching? I understand it's yet another scam. I guess that side of Saul has never been explored on the show...several hundred...million times.

It was fine but not what I really want to see with only 4 episodes left. It moved the storyline nowhere. We get it, he can't help himself, even when he has lost everything. I realize he did it to cover his butt and make sure he wasn't ratted out, but you can see how much he enjoys a caper.
