This place is basically just a sandbox full of people doing bits, but there are some that are rather Flairlike in living their bits, but the quest for perspective is an ongoing human endeavor so interacting with people that have completely different thoughts is essential if you want to broaden your perspective.

Have asked the board what this place does well before and most of the replies indicated that when it sticks to sports it does OK, but when it devolves into politics, well...it gets a bit dicey, but we all delude ourselves into thinking we should share our political thoughts, so it really is our fault when the board devolves.

That said, LTG is an AWA guy, so he's OK in my book.

In all fairness BigW72, it's not exactly an "arduous task" for anyone here to shack up in Frank's head. The guy is literally a one man "obsession force". Remember he gets "all lathered up" if anyone simply "sees" his post. In High School I bet he used to get a special type of tingle even if the most unattractive girl in the school happened to give him a head nod as she passed him in the hallway.

As much as I like as I like LTG, I was watching a documentary on Paul Newman and thought that that he may have been the coolest American of all time.

Yeah I know that it's completely incongruous. And idgaf.

With all due respect, you have seemed to go nuts since he was elected and moreso after he lost. From the way you post, it appears you think Trump beat Biden.

I don't think we'll ever know who actually won that election. There's a big difference between wanting to remove Biden and install Trump and stating the obvious fact that the election was fucked up. That it was "the most secure election in history" is the real "Big Lie." You should ask yourself why anyone would make such a preposterous claim. It isn't something anyone who is really confident Biden won would say.

If the Dems were as left winged as he claims then Bernie Sanders would be President and not Biden. Even if not Sanders then there were others to choose from that were "left" wing besides Biden. In Biden they selected the most centrist candidate of the entire field.

You're a traditional Lefty. "Left" doesn't really mean what it once did. The modern "Left" barely even pays lip service to the Worker.

"Left" has come to be a signifier for outre cultural views, e.g. men can get pregnant, the Constitution is trash, free speech is hate, ten month abortions, etc.

They selected the guy they thought could get elected. And they're using him in his demented state as a Trojan horse for wacky nonsense that is now categorized as "Left."

Hey Jorr where you been all these years? The "Left" has always been a "signifier" of such things. There has been an "introduction" of a few issues, but for the most part the "Left" is still the "Left" in MANY regards.

It most certainly has not. The core of traditional left wing politics is the rights of the working class. It has nothing to do with trannies in restrooms.

The people you call "Left" are union busting at Amazon.

"Using" him? Biden has been a huge disappointment to those on the "left". Hey Jorr you may not have noticed the fact that Biden has one of the lowest "approval" ratings in recent memory. Do you not think that much of that has to do with the fact that the "Left" is hugely disappointment in his performance? and refusal to implement MANY of their policies?

This has been an interesting and funny read this morning.

I love all parities at work here. LTG, CallerBob, Frank, pittmike. They all play great parts of our dysfunctional family.

We should really focus our hate towards someone that brings us all together and that is the idiot WFR

You need an "education" on your political terms Jorr. You're conflating "Leftism" with "Liberalism". Traditional "Liberalism" is currently what you are referencing. Traditional Left Wing Politics was always much more "radical" in nature. The "Father" of the "Working Class" FDR, was hardly a "Left Wing" politician. WHile there is sometimes overlap between Leftism and Liberalism, for those in the "know" it is not, nor has it ever been, one and the same.

Instead of referring to this faction as "the left", I think it is probably more helpful/accurate to call them "progressive neoliberals," but "Identity Politics Liberals" generally works, too.

Old boy has been awfully quiet lately. Haven't seen any posts of his since early July. Wonder if he's from Highland Park...

Many of the issues that they endorse are traditional left wing democratic issues though. They are definitely left wing.

These issues have always been at the front and center of left wing Democratic Party Politics.

This has been an interesting and funny read this morning.

I love all parities at work here. LTG, CallerBob, Frank, pittmike. They all play great parts of our dysfunctional family.

We should really focus our hate towards someone that brings us all together and that is the idiot WFR

That has been my point all along- LTG, CB and flapjacks are board treasures. And PM can drop bombs from time to time directly related to his alcohol abuse. If you to sit back and enjoy the show, the entertainment value goes way up.

None of those issues except abortion are front and center for the modern Democratic Party. They're actively erasing women. And Anti-War?

Do you not know the meaning of the word "traditional" Jorr? or do you need an "education" on that as well? All of those issues were part of the Left Wing of Democratic Party Platform of the 50's and 60's. For all of the ballyhooing that some of you do about your "educational" institutions around here its rather clear that you are rather ignorant when it comes to MANY things.

There really isn't variation in the issues that Left Wingers espouse and that which "traditional" Left Wingers of the 60's espoused when you get right down to it. Though its obvious that you wouldn't know that.
