I remember suggesting Fields was a brighter prospect than Lawrence right after his beat down of Clemson, but I also think there had to be legit reasons he was the sixth QB taken in the draft.

Yup, we saw last year that he doesn't understand how to play in the pocket. Hopefully that changes. I don't have questions about his physical ability. It's the mental aspect of the game where he needs to prove himself.

Hell, Mitch had some nice throws too.

Bernstein's point is that Fields may not have a great statistical year, but he needs to make great plays consistently in practice and in games to convince him that he can be the long-term answer at QB. Bernstein says that "greatness doesn't hide" and thus Fields needs to demonstrate greatness on a regular basis.

Bernstein is no longer a Fields apologist. Like Hoge and Jahns, he has adjusted his position on Fields without announcing he has adjusted his position on Fields. The fact that all three analysts have quickly lost faith in Fields suggests that their praise for Fields was grounded more in disdain for Nagy than it was in appreciation for Fields' ability.

It came off as disingenuous support because he was black.
I think Justin Fields is better than Tom Brady.

Fields starts 0-4 with an interception off of Harry's Hands.

Finishes session 5/10 with a drop by Blasingame that would have made him 6/10.

So he missed his first four then completed 5/6 and should have been 6/6.

What are you doing in a Bears thread? I think another Packer just went down with a knee injury.

 No, I'd rather you count the days until Bakhtiari returns from his injury. Can you count to infinity?

Practiced but it must have been too much because they are off tomorrow.

His attitude and his dedication to the game. He has pretty much every tool you need to play at an elite level.

The dude has the physical ability to be a QB1, but success at the NFL level depends more on your ability to instantaneously recognize flaws in the defense and then deliver and accurate and on time throw. If it was all about just athletic ability teams would simply go to track meets and grab the top decathletes, so Bruce Jenner would be the ideal QB1, seems Lawrence is already transitioning, so maybe that is not too far off.

Find more interesting the effort by the "Bears Media" to put a positive spin on his work during yesterdays "closed" practice. Not sure if they get that this makes them seem much less credible and chases people to more independent podcasts or out of town takes for actual real information about the team.

They used to toss around the term "out of town stupid" to dismiss sports thoughts from national media types, but that was back when you had guys like Uncle Terry, Mac, and North openly challenging and questioning the Bears Organization.

It seems that given the current state of local sports media and the seemingly endless need to protect the McKaskey family, especially from the hapless and hopeless Hubert Arkush who seems to be the arbiter of Bears takes, we instead need a new term, "In town stupid", your welcome.
