Good riddance to this piece of garbage that was a huge negative throughout his near 7 years that he stole from the team and fans. A true coward that would never be honest about anything. Leadership, mentoring, working hard blah blah blah. All bs. All the media and especially Score trash that spewed out excuses for this bum have their integrity forever tarnished.

He has been bad at baseball over the course at his contract. But that does not make him those things.

Definitely needs to be gone. But he was still an important part of a World Series team, and I feel bad for him that he is not going to get a chance to properly say goodbye at Wrigley.

They literally added a guy who was better than Mike Trout for the second half of 2019 and didn’t sniff advancing . The core sucked after 16 , and obviously adding a great bat didn’t make one bit of difference . They were one and done .

He was a complete and utter failure with the Cubs. If you're going to sign big money it can't be projected strong data from a mediocre player as the reason to sign a guy this proves.
It's pretty apparentt he refused to get closer to the plate which should have voided his contract or at least be fined .

When he came up with the Braves, I thought we were going to talk about Heyward the way we've come to talk about Mike Trout. Man, did it all go wrong.

With a 1 WAR in 2016, he did indeed contribute nothing. When talking about the art of stealing money, he and Pujols are on Mt Rushmore.

Im not sure thats entirely fair. Pujols had a track record of being awesome for years. Heyward was Aaron Rowand.

Fair or not, he went to SoCal and got fat and happy. 12.8 WAR for $240 million over 10 yrs.

Amazing Albert Pujols was only 1 year younger than how old Jason Heyward is now when he signed a 10 year contract with the Angels. Could you imagine Heyward signing a 10 year contract last year with how prematurely old he plays for his age during his Cubs disaster.

Heyward had flashes of greatness in Atlanta and St. Louis. He was a gold glove outfielder with a frame that screamed 25-30 home runs if he ate a couple of hamburgers. Outside of his outlier batting average with the Cardinals, he was consistently the same guy he had been his entire career, minus the steals. The Cubs paid for a projection that never materialized.

i don't listen to cub-fan kap, so, not sure about his opinion(s), but i'll give spiegel his due. spiegel was the only score host i ever heard talk about the possibility of j-hey getting DFAed and just recently spiegel predicted that heyward would not be on the cubs in 2023. i never heard any other score host handling that hot potato due to the score/cubs conflict of interest.

i would never call a pro a coward, heyward did hit after getting nailed in the face. it's obvious his hitting technique and stance changed for the worse and not sure how the cubs allowed a $184 million investment to just wither away - right in front of everyone's eyes. what will time tell us about cubs' interventions and working on heyward's hitting?

i'm a cub fan and i'd like to believe that the cubs have much better hitting options in the OF in 2023 and certainly by 2024.
