Let me go out on a limb and say no quarterbacks have ever started 17 regular season games 2 years in a row, let alone 3.

So he can't even miss one game for 3 years?

How many QBs do you think play 51 straight?

I'm getting the impression he means a named number 1.

He’s getting a fair chance here at number 1. I would be surprised he does not start the season.

Pittsburgh hasnt had a losing season in 20 years, this is the year. Lot of talent but no QB.

Pickens is having an amazing camp, which isn't surprising.

I've seen the Twitter videos. I just don't know how he'll overtake the their top 4 offensive players for touches.

If the Steelers don't know what they have in Mason Rudolph already, no one can help them
I'm not buying this at all. I would predict Mitch starts game 1 of the season.

it's highly possible they have other problems on offense than just the QB.

We know (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is....not good. I'm fairly certain the Steelers know exactly what they have in Mason Rudolph and if he was the answer, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky wouldn't be on the roster.

How many weeks until he loses the starting job to Pickett?

Quote:
Steelers rookie Kenny Pickett made a statement in the team’s quarterback competition on Saturday night.

Pickett played the entire second half and completed 13 of 15 passes for 95 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions, including the game-winning touchdown pass with four seconds remaining as the Steelers won 32-25.

Six. I don't see them keeping Rudolph on the roster, somebody will take him in exchange for a future 7th to have as a backup, maybe the Jets if Wilson is going to be out for half the season.

The Vikings should trade for Rudolph and cut Mond and Mannion.

That would probably make sense as well.

Pickett played with poise, was decisive, went through his reads, and wasn't afraid to check it down. All of the things we still hope Fields will do. Pickett is also a fan favorite. It's time to move him up the depth chart.

Rudolph played the worst. He was careless with the ball. He's fortunate not to have a fumble lost and a couple of interceptions.

He's almost as old as Velus Jones. He should have a certain amount of poise.

Fields has been a national star since Trestman was roaming the sidelines. He should have better poise and PR skills than any rookie.

His superior athleticism has allowed him to dominate at every level prior to the NFL. Now he has to develop some advanced skills to accompany his elite physical ability. He seems to have a great work ethic and has definitely improved--but he still has a very long way to go.

I wonder what it will take for him to not run when the 1st read isn't there? Will he have to get hurt as result or will the Bears have to bench him? The 3rd option is that he just hangs in there and doesn't give into temptation. But, from Getsy's comments, it seems like they feel Fields is bailing out too soon.

It's starting to happen.

Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is slowly transforming into 2017 Mike Glennon.

It won't be long before Picket becomes the starter.

But I thought it was all Nagy's fault Mitch ( and Fields ) wasnt good ?

Nagy's coaching increased the probability that Trubisky--and Fields--would fail.

This doesn't mean, though, that they're also not bad.

Mitch was clearly both poorly coached and a below average quarterback.

Fields has the season to prove he's not terrible.

With regards to Fields, I hold to a revised version of Brett Favre's maxim that it's the quarterback's job to overcome bad coaching.

Fields may not have bad coaching this year, but he will need to overcome bad teammates on offense.

Good quarterbacks make their teammates better. We'll see if Fields can do that. I still think he can.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky never gave any indication he’d be an NFL starter. Couldn’t start at a mediocre college program until his senior year, at which point he promptly sucked.

Fields is a whole different story. He’s been a no doubter since high school. If he fails, I blame coaching.

His biggest challenge is reading defenses at NFL speed.

Some guys can do it, some can't.

If he can't, I don't think that's the fault of the coaches.
