Wondering that if you would get better sports radio today if you were to stop off at Shady Acres today and walk into the community lunch room and put a microphone in front of North, Mac, Fred, and Uncle Terry? You certainly would get a more entertaining show from guys who had forgotten more about the Bears than your current roster.

In fact, the imaginary radio going on in those guys heads is likely far more entertaining.

no way those guys could or would want to get back into it full time

I would think you could get them to have shows once a week if you let them broadcast from home.

It would be fun to have an old school hosts day at the Score once a year. Give them a day after the Super Bowl when there is no pressing sports.

I don't know shit about football. And if I can tell Parkins and Spiegel don't know shit, it must be a fucking migraine for Claw to listen to it.

Not full time, just an hour every week, the station really needs to ramp up its Bears content.

Finding only the Bears hits from the morning show are the only thing worth podcasting at the moment.

The level of content mid-days and afternoons is embarrassing at this point given the stations history, especially the HFC which in my opinion was some of the best NFL and Bears content ever produced.

Given his Baron von Raschke fetish and obsession with 90s sports talk, I'm guessing Claw lives in a wax museum.

I know you only joined here in 2019 but this board was filled with complaints about Boers and North pretty much the whole time they actually had shows. Mac was always popular but that's partially because he posted here. Fred was always considered ok but people hated the Mike North morning show he was on.

North would take a full time gig again in a NY minute.

Mac would as well, for at least three months.

More obsessed with the Bears, but that's not why you called.

Do have certain parts of the sandbox that amuse/interest me,and do respect Jim Raschke for entertaining me as a hapless grade schooler, which provided some much-needed cheap entertainment growing up in a single parent household, so you are not incorrect in your assumptions.

However, in my defense, it is much more annoyance at the current state of the sport talk radio station that once also provided entertaining and informative Bears coverage than an obsession and given the fact that there are endless ongoing threads about that subject here, do not think I am alone in my knowledge about the station.

Answer the question. Do you live in a wax museum?

North's show with Carmen is pretty entertaining.

I thought Murph and Fred on Saturdays was very good.

Terry is never coming back for a regular gig.

30 minutes of a Mac podcast is more entertaining than any P&S show. It doesn't feel like Mac is talking down to the average fan the way that P&S do. Your mileage may vary of course.

I'm legitimately surprised to hear the enthusiasm for the current efforts from Mac and North. Both of them had precipitously decllned from their peak years by the time they were through at the Score. I'll have to give both shows a listen; they can't possibly be worse than Bernstein & Holmes.

Outside of MJH, I don't remember a single show on here that was popular at the time it was actually on the air. We had that strange period where Peeps pretended that Waddle and Silvy was interesting until he quit that and no one posted in that section for months at a time.

I'm probably the only guy here who preferred Kap and Waddle on SportsCentral. Kap has turned into a cartoon character and the Waddle/Silvy bits like "My wife or my radio partner" were PTFB for me.

The North show ad turned into his solo conservative attempt when this board started. I am sure if it was around in say 1996 the praise would have been there. B&B criticism really picked up around the time of Penn St.

North in the mornings went from bad to worse but his monsters days were the best sports radio I've heard

Agreed. As long as he primarily talked sports instead of politics.

I was a B&B guy. Kid made sure B&B got enough love.

I'm here because I found Wise Guys in the summer of 2003. I became a Scorehead that day.

I was too but people complained about them all the time. Why are they mean to callers?

Nostalgia makes everything better. Shitty current options also help with that.

It started out ok, but as Uncle Terry aged, and his health declined, he ceded more control of the show to Bernstein, who could never pull off the banter with callers like the Monsters or Heavy Fuel crew, so it seemed he began either creating callers or screening out callers in order to stifle any disagreeing voices. It became painfully evident that Bernstein was using numerous Kenny Owens type fictitious emailer/texters who oddly always agreed with him and somehow were always picked to be read on the air, this killed some of the bits that worked Terry and Mac, and became annoying with long-time guys.

Bernstein was mostly great before Penn State. IMO, he was by far the most knowledgeable and entertaining radio host in Chicago. I struggle to listen to 5 minutes of his shows now.

I found his arrogance to be entertaining similar to North's bar talk. They were different guys, but both were must listen radio.
