If I can take the L on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky vs Foles you can take the L on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky as a starter.

This honestly isn't a shot at him in 2022 (it used to be earlier): he's a backup. And that's not bad now that we now he's not "the guy" . He's not gonna disappear like Jemarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf or something. He belongs in the league at the very least. He doesn't turn the ball over and his mobility adds value. As a backup he'd be an ideal fit on a team with a strong running game that is able to compensate for (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's weaknesses. So for example if he's ironically backing up Watson in Cleveland and has to fill in for a game or two, things may be fine because they'll rely on Chubb and Hunt to do the heavy lifting. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky can then assist/be a game manager. He'll be misplaced on any team relying on him to do the heavy lifting.

He's a below average starter which means he gets replaced by a younger player eventually looking for the next superstar. I think I compared his ceiling to Ryan Fitzpatrick or Matt Cassell. He'd easily be the starter on the Bears right now.

He's only got a little bit of time to improve his play though. He can be better than he has been so far.

His lack of improvement on the most basic QB fundamentals is alarming.

Throwing off of his back foot.

Not following through on his throws.

Needless sidearm throws that sail.

All of this plus it doesn't seem that he has the confidence to lead a team. He didn't seem to have it in college either.

Which makes him an ideal #2 QB for a long time.

Chase Daniel and Chad Henne are still floating around the league taking a pay check for god's sake!

Probably. Which means he'll make another $20-25MM. What a great life.

Chase Daniel has earned 40M over his career (5 starts)

All of these problems are real, but he's still light years ahead of Fields. Yikes.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was arguably the Steelers best player on both sides of the ball yesterday, and he hasn't been a top 5 reason they've lost either game.

I can't see how any reasonable person could watch the game last night and say (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was the problem.

The problem is if they don't have a good overall record they'll eventually see what they have in Pickett.

The problem is that Nas isn't reasonable when it comes to the Bears, and neither of you are reasonable when it comes to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky since 2020.

I don't disagree. The cries from the media to bench him seem manufactured and personal.

What exactly has been unreasonable? I said he was a below average starter in the league and he's currently a below average starter in the league.

Don't wanna speak for Frank but it might be that it took you years to arrive at an assessment that was apparent to everyone back in 2020.

 Right.

Fine, Rick. You have been slightly more reasonable with regard to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky over the last week or ten days. You were staunchly unreasonably on him during/post 2019.

I do agree that he is likely a guy that could hang around the league for another decade primarily as a backup and will get starts here and there due to injury. He may even play well at times and show flashes of brilliance here and there. Unless he turns it around this year, he likely will never be a full time starter (10-12+ consecutive games) and probably won't see the field in another playoff game unless its garbage time and he is running clock or kneeling down.

Matt Canada is a bigger problem than Mitch right now IMO.

How so? Nagy was a bigger problem than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is a below average NFL starter. Now, maybe I thought he would be an average NFL starter.

I went to 2021. Pretty good one here.

https://chicagofanatics.com/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=124309&p=3631197&hilit=(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky#p3631197

I'm not sure about 2020 but (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky saved that season.

He's clearly not being asked to put the team on his back. Neither would Pickett. Najee Harris is supposed to do that. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was their best player yesterday, but he was also the guy who the media blamed for the Steelers losing. He's a great scapegoat for the guys who are supposed to be the solution.

Edit: The Steelers last 4 scoring drives have come when (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was calling his own plays. They haven't thrown a ball over the middle in the past 2 weeks when (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky isn't calling his own plays.

There are like 5 quarterbacks in the NFL who can. That isn't exactly the knock on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky you think it is. When I was trolling, even I wouldn't suggest (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky could carry the Bears on his back.

While there are MANY that cannot for more than a game, its more than five who can.

Nas is very protective of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky

It was All Pro WR Deon Johnson's fault
It was Super Bowl winning Tomlin's fault
It was the Steelers' (best organization in football, per Nas) fault

And per Nas all of the Pittsburgh based analysts just want to pick on (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky when they criticize him. They actually don't know what they're talking about. They've never seen QB greatness anyway so who are they to criticize the diamond in the rough (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.

Interesting hill to die on

But they did choose him over (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in 2021. And there's a chance we'll see Rudolph this year. I think we all know (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky isn't likely to keep the starting job for much longer, which would be a blow to your prior position. I get that you now think he's a below average starter.
