boeing up $25 a share since mid-may. still getting orders, can they fill them within the buyers' time-frame? delta just bought 100 737s. delta isn't one of their main customers, good for boeing. to me, boeing should be, but, isn't a trade. going to hold for awhile. when they finally compensate the airlines for the max and late 787 deliveries, should pay a dividend again and stock could get into the $200s.

IBM reacting horribly to what looked like a solid earnings report. Even with currency headwinds, their revenues were fine and beat on adjusted earnings. Analysts seem worried about cash flow, but I am confused as I did not see anything weird.

I bought boeing mid april 2020 and sold in may 2021 after i got my 100%. I thought for sure i'd go 3X because of where it had been but timed getting out right. I thought about getting back in but have not yet at this point and likely will not.

10.5 to 10 doesn't seem bad enough to warrant the drop.

i can see that. i bought it long-term, not a trade...so, i'm hoping for the best and being optimistic about the company and the stock. really shocking the lax attitudes...had to be caught up in the hubris.

Seriously, you can put into about any blue chip right now and get 2-3x return in a couple years or maybe even less.

Some physco bitch on npr today said Biden was going to make it clear the climate is a national emergency but the reporter kept asking if that meant a formal emergency and the bitch wouldn't elaborate because she knew there's no fucking emergency it's summer and it's hot

Thank God there's a conservative SCOTUS and big hopes to have a conservative Congress. The administration also has plans to put a Petition For Asylum form on the goddam internet.

China has 4x the amount of coal plants we do..and they're building more every month. These goofs who think electric cars are the answer don't realize our grid can't handle the load.

He has to decide if climate or abortion will be the focus of his national emergency declaration

I usually enjoy NPR. It's been unlistenable lately.

Last 3 month or less I've been buying Tesla, Amazon, and Crowdstrike and doing well. but everything else had been broad market driven.

My advice from early 2020 applies. Retirement money should stay fully invested at your desired allocations. For anyone under 50, that is 100% in equities. Continue to dollar cost average in.

For your money outside of retirement, make sure you have paid off all high interest rate debt before dabbling into the market. Maintain proper liquidity, ie cash, for emergencies. Fixed income investments are starting to get more attractive and will continue to get more so. If you have the appetite for risk, then lots of tech stocks are starting to look attractive. But if you lose sleep at night from investment losses, then you should not be investing in equities outside of your retirement portfolio.

In my trading portfolio, I have a strong preference for value stocks and dividend paying stocks. I recently dipped into a beaten down PayPal with a half unit investment, meaning half of my desired total to catch it lower if it dips more. The rest of my trades have been disclosed on the board. I am sitting on way too much cash in my trading portfolio, but I did not trust this Covid market. I will continue to go bargain hunting as I have throughout 2022.

Remember buy low….and we are getting low on lots of stuff. There is plenty more potential downside, so keep that in mind.

Really nice move in PayPal. I never doubled down when it dipped below $70. But I am in around $82 while it is trading around $100 after an interesting quarter.

I bought more shopify. a glutton for punishment. I also tax loss harvested a few lots this week. proceeds go into VTI for the 30 days and then I typically rebuy.

I don't get Paypal. There are more convenient apps. I still use it, but I'm like 90 and hate change.

It works best as a quick checkout on websites so you do not need to enter your card info or address.

I use it to send money. If you prefer Venmo, well that is a PayPal app too.

qqq's also up around $30 since may purchase. still picking up glw here and there. great company, so-so stock. also looking at taking a chance on an airline stock next month. was thinking of picking up s & p spyder, thought the s & p has been lagging on the 'comeback'...decided against it. will play the risky airlines. for a trade, not investment.

I listened to Powell’s speech today. As you can probably tell from the market reaction, he was hawkish. They are going to put the breaks on inflation. He specifically stated that unemployment will go up and growth must slow. They will keep rates above neutral levels until it is clear inflation is back around the 2% target.

It is looking like another 75 bp raise in September and no cuts in 2023.

I think I could be treasury secretary.

Something bad happened? Slash rates!

Something good happened? Raise rates!

Welp, too bad the treasury secretary does not have such powers. But I am sure your signature would look great on the greenback.

Yeah, but if I was treasury secretary I'd make it so I could do those things.

well you think it is bad now wait until this happens:
https://www.catholicworldreport.com/2022/08/23/pope-francis-instructs-vatican-entities-to-move-all-funds-to-vatican-bank-by-sept-30/
Quote:
Pope Francis has ordered that the Holy See and connected entities move all financial assets to the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR), commonly known as the Vatican bank.

The pope’s rescript, issued Aug. 23, clarifies the interpretation of a paragraph in the new constitution of the Roman Curia, Praedicate Evangelium, promulgated in March.

According to Francis’ rescript, financial and liquid assets held in banks other than the IOR must be moved to the Vatican bank within 30 days of Sept. 1, 2022.
